this version of edge dev on macos seems to be crashing every few minutes. fine in windows so far.
Same experience here on the macOS side. It doesn't seem to matter what pages are open, the browser just disappears every couple minutes.
On the update welcome page, I didn't have buttons on the announcement to easily get to the article.

@LisaS

Read Aloud panel is not visible (it's empty - no buttons, no nothing) when it's reading.

A case of crash.
1) Show sidebar.
2) Click 'Customize sidebar' button.
3) Click 'Hide sidebar' button.
Reproducible on Windows10(22H2) and Linux(Mint 21, Kubuntu 22.04).
It was occurring at least 108.0.1436.0 canary and it is on going on 108.0.1449.0 canary.

@Will Y Yes, this new version is crashing too frequently on Mac 12.6.

@LisaS

same here. this version crashes every few mins on macOS 12.6, no matter what I do, even when idling.

@marcdom1908 Right! It crashes silently when I leave it in the background.

This is disastrous. Any way or idea to rollback to previous version on our machine?

@nchicong

unfortunately there is no way to roll back afaik. while you could download an older installer like this:

https://officecdnmac.microsoft.com/pr/03adf619-38c6-4249-95ff-4a01c0ffc962/MacAutoupdate/MicrosoftEd...

it won't help since it will automatically autoupdate to the latest dev channel build again.

what I did for the time being was to install the latest Canary Channel build (which isn't affected), closing all Edge browsers, and copied over the contents from

~/Library/Application Support/Microsoft Edge Dev
to
~/Library/Application Support/Microsoft Edge Canary
to keep all my settings/bookmarks/cookies, then restarted Canary build, and I am now using that until we have a fix for Dev Channel. 🙂
Yes, crashing like crazy on MacOS. Three times since I updated less than half an hour ago.

Yep nonstop crashing every few minutes on MacOS.  No errors or anything, app just closes.  Pretty much unusable at this point.

@LisaS Crashes every time on MacOS after a few minutes even with little activity. Is there an option to downgrade it to the previous version?

any chance for a quick turnaround to fix this in the dev build or will it just be left in this bad state for a month?
After this problematic version, I guess we should request a feature to allow users to rollback, for at least a period of time. That seems to be necessary when we stay in rapid channels like canary, dev.
The crashing is a known issue. Unfortunately, the fix for it was in 1439, so the best thing to do at the moment is use Canary since it has the fix.
