Dev channel update to 101.0.1210.1 is live

Microsoft

Hello Insiders!  Today we’re releasing build 101.0.1210.1 to the Dev channel.  And while it may not seem like it, this is in fact the last week for version 101, give or take a patch or two.  Speaking of time, it is now T minus 3 months until Internet Explorer is officially retired, and we’ve got some good reading here about recent improvements we’ve made to IE mode to help make the transition easier:  https://blogs.windows.com/windowsexperience/2022/03/29/with-3-months-left-before-ie-retirement-new-e...

We also have an update for extension developers on the recent improvements we’ve made to our developer website:  https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/articles/what-s-new-on-microsoft-partner-center-for-edge-add-....  And if you haven’t seen our YouTube channel, we’ve got an update there on what’s new in version 99’s F12 Dev Tools:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z5-tEE_cNTo.  As for what’s new in the browser this week:

    • Added an experimental API to WebView2 to listen to HTTP Status Codes from navigations.
    • Added an Experimental API to WebView2 get favicons and listen for changes to them.

  • Fixed an issue where certain Settings pages take a long time to load.
  • Fixed an issue where IE mode tabs sometimes fail to open.
  • Fixed an issue with IE mode cookie syncing where cookies sometimes get out of sync.
  • Fixed an issue where downloading files from IE mode tabs sometimes leaves extra tabs open.

    • Obsoleted the policy to control if Cross Origin Web Assembly Module Sharing is Enabled.

Known issues:

  • Users of certain ad blocking extensions may experience playback errors on YouTube.  As a workaround, temporarily disabling the extension should allow playback to proceed.  See this help article for more details.
  • Some users are still running into an issue where all tabs and extensions immediately crash with a STATUS_INVALID_IMAGE_HASH error.  The most common cause of this error is outdated security or antivirus software from vendors like Symantec, and in those cases, updating that software will fix it.
  • Users of the Kaspersky Internet Suite who have the associated extension installed may sometimes see webpages like Gmail fail to load.  This failure is due to the main Kaspersky software being out of date, and is thus fixed by making sure the latest version is installed.
  • Some users are seeing “wobbling” behavior when scrolling using trackpad gestures or touchscreens, where scrolling in one dimension also causes the page to subtly scroll back and forth in the other.  Note that this only affects certain websites and seems to be worse on certain devices.  This is most likely related to our ongoing work to bring scrolling back to parity with Edge Legacy’s behavior, so if this behavior is undesirable, you can temporarily turn it off by disabling the edge://flags/#edge-experimental-scrolling flag.

One other thing you should be on the lookout for is version 100 heading to Stable soon!

And what about the top feedback summary for march, february, and more ?
Hi Josh, browser still crashes on linux after trying to enable sync with work AAD account. I have two crashes with ID 4f96d13338dece21a6ea5488ecc5f178 , first at 12:58:46 CET , when i was logged into microsoft SSO and try to enable syncing. Then at 13:00:39 CET, where I logged out from SSO, before trying to enable sync to my work account

Same here! Running on Linux (Ubuntu 20.04LTS) and the Dev channel crashes each time I try to sign in. It goes as far as the MFA bit and then Edge closes unexpectedly (I do however expect it by now ;)). It gives a memory could not be accessed error.

Reported a pretty bad regression in window restoration is not drawing the horizontal tab bar

Thanks for the new report! Clearly the fixes we made weren't for your particular issue, so I'll make sure our reliability team is aware of these crashes.
From what we can tell, this happens when a tab updates its title while the window is minimized, and anything that causes the tab bar to redraw, like opening a new tab, fixes it.
