De-elevate browser on launch

Bronze Contributor

Hello

What exactly is this option for?
I am in "Admin mode" (UAC disabled), is it better to disable this option or no report ?

Thanks

By option you mean the flag in Edge:flags?

@HotCakeX

Yes, in Edge:flags

It de-elevates the browser, as in reduces its permission when launched with administrator rights. because when browsers are launched with Administrator rights, they are security risks and also some functionalities of the browsers such as sign in is not available.

Ok thanks, the default setting must correspond to disabled
No difference between these 2 options (UAC disabled on my PCs)

Yeah probably, try running Edge as Admin and it should be de-elevated with the flag enabled

With UAC disabled (service stopped), Edge is launched in Admin mode, right ?

Yes, UAC is all about controlling and showing you notifications, when you launch a program as Admin it will still launch as Admin even with UAC prompt off.

you can use this guide to find out which programs are running as Admin in task manager

What is your problem exactly?

the thread is old, now you can sign in when running Edge as administrator and that flag is now removed.
