Command palette for edge

Iron Contributor

Edge chromium should have a command palette (like in Visual Studio Code and Vivaldi) to quickly search through favourites, history, open tabs, setting, apps, etc.clipboard_image_0.png

@Maan2003 Thanks for the suggestion! Can you tell us a bit more about the use case and how a command palette would improve your (and/or others') browsing experience?

Command palette could as act like universal search throughout edge.

May be it could be even integrated inside the omni box. Following are some use cases:

  1. Search history.
  2. Search Downloads
  3. Search collections
  4. search and toggle settings (like turn on dark mode, etc.)
  5. search and quickly switch between open tabs

I believe last one could be helpful because now number of tabs >10 is very common and edge(or any chromium based browser) reduces the size the tab as number of tabs increases. At some point only favicons are visible. If two/more tabs have same icon we have to check all of them to find the one we need to open.

So the ability to search through the titles of open tabs can be useful

@Maan2003 Great, thank you for the details. I'll pass this on to our Search/Omnibox product team!
