4K Streaming + HDR Support

Iron Contributor

Edge (Stable + Dev) is supposed to play HDR (Dolby Vision) content on Netflix and Youtube, but it does not appear to be working. Edge Legacy works perfectly fine in this regard. I have not been able to fix this behavior using any of the flags as well.

This does not matter much to me as I use the Netflix app and Youtube has very little content in HDR, but I would like to see this enabled anyway.

Which graphic card do you have?
the legacy Edge and the new Edge which is based on Chromium, require different hardware specifications to provide HDR support.

CPU: Intel i7 8850H
RAM: 16GB
GPU: GTX 1050Ti
Windows 10 Build No: 1909

GPU looks good, if you had the previous Gen (9th series) you would be having problem with HDR in Edge.

btw i also read that you need to be using HDMI 2.0 or DisplayPort 1.4. not sure if it's actually a requirement though, from your post it looks like you are already using HDR contents

@HotCakeX On this device, it is HDMI 2.0. It's a new laptop and the specifications for the external port lists it as 2.0. It's running on dedicated graphics mode as well.
