Hi there,

 

I just discovered the following translation errors in PowerPoint, Excel and Word 2016 (Version 1801 Build 9001.2138). For getting to the views shown in the screenshots below, please clear your recent list of opened files.

 

PowerPoint

In German, the use of einem/r is incorrect, it should be einer only.

The second sentence sounds incomplete and twisted too, compared to the English version. So, I would like to suggest as translation: 

 

Sie haben in letzter Zeit keine Präsentationen geöffnet. Wählen Sie einen Ort aus, um nach einer Präsentation zu suchen.

 

Excel

A similar error to PowerPoint is also present in Excel. The use of einem/r is incorrect too, it should be einer only.

My suggestion for a better translation would then be:

 

Sie haben in letzter Zeit keine Arbeitsmappen geöffnet. Wählen Sie einen Ort aus, um nach einer Arbeitsmappe zu suchen.

 

Word

A similar error to PowerPoint is also present in Word. The use of einem/r is incorrect too, it should be in this case einem only.

Hi @Mourad Louha

 


The reason for the two different indefinite articles "einem/r" is that this string is reused in various Office tools and that "presentation" is only a placeholder in this string. Other possible placeholders are "document", "notebook", "spreadsheet" etc. which have a different gender in German. Due to this we were able to implement your suggestion. We did however implement your style suggestion with "Wählen Sie einen Ort aus, um nach einem/r |0 zu suchen.".
