Hi there,

in the German version of Excel 2016 (and the other products, such as Word and PowerPoint), two command buttons currently have a similar name as shown in the screenshot below.

icons.png

For inserting an icon to the sheet, you have to use Symbole (in English Icons) from the group Illustrationen (in English Illustrations). For inserting a special character, you have to use Symbol from the group Symbole (Symbols / Symbol in English) This is confusing to many users.

I asked my friends and community in the German Excel-FAQ-Group on Facebook, if they would have a better translation for the German command button for inserting icons. Ute Simon (PowerPoint MVP) suggested to use Piktogramme, which got the most votes. As Icons is also nowadays a common word in German too, Icons would fine too.

So, all in all, it would be great, if the translation could be changed to Piktogramme or at least Icons.

Best,

Mourad

Thanks so much for suggesting this @Deleted. I can see why it would be confusing. Our German Moderator is investigating and we will come back to you in our PowerBI dashboard once we know what we will do. Regards, Staff
