Cutover migration of external domain without AD sync

Copper Contributor

Hey all was wondering if anyone is familiar with exchange migrations where you don't want to pull over the AD accounts.

We acquired a company and want to migrate there exchange to our office 365 tennant but not sync there AD.

We want to exchange server mainly for historical data and will convert them to shared mailboxes when imported, but I am unable to find an answer on weather this is possible or not.

Hi @joeking84,

You can use Third Party applications to move.

Please read more here How to migrate mailboxes from one Microsoft 365 or Office 365 organization to another | Microsoft Do...

Thanks for the reply but they have a local exchange not a 365 account.  We are wanting to pull them from there local exchange to our o365 account but not bring the ad accounts.

Hi @joeking84,

You can use Cutover migration or the third party applications to move content to Office 365.

@joeking84 good afternoon.

You can find free or paid third-party apps to migrate it.

Also, I recommend you read the Exchange tools for the cutover, without Azure AD connect.

You can start with this articule to understand the process.

Good luck!
