Q: We deployed 928388 to the desktops before the latest update for the OS with the new time zones was released in KB 931836.  What does this do to us and do we now need to deply the new patch
A: Yes, you will need to apply 931836.  You do not need to remove 928388 before doing so.

A: 931836 has additional time zone information that was not available at the time 928388 was released. You will need to reinstall the patch if you want to reflect the new time changes.  For example, if you install update 928388 in December 2006, and then you install cumulative update 931836 in February 2007, you can uninstall only cumulative update 931836. When you uninstall cumulative update 931836, the time zone database will revert to its pre-December state. Additionally, if you install cumulative update 931836, Windows will not let you install update 928388.
