The Egyptian government recently announced that they will be observing DST from Friday, July 8
th
, 2016 at 12:00 AM. DST is expected to end on Friday, October 28
th
, 2016 at 12:00 AM.
Microsoft is preparing an update to Windows which will reflect this change. We anticipate this update will be made available in early June.
We recommend our customers in Egypt to continue using time zone “(UTC+02:00) Cairo” and consume this update once made available to ensure the DST transitions takes effect appropriately.
We have received Egyptian cabinet’s meeting notes along with state run newspaper articles describing this change. However we are still awaiting an official decree from the government stating this change.
