Lately I have had annoying problems writing accented words (often used in the Danish language).

When writing i.e. Filtrér I get Filt´´ér and some times Filtr´´er etc.

I can switch to ENG (DA) language settings and then it works fine but then the spell checker kicks in, so that's not an option.

It is only in i.e. Excel, Word and Outlook - not generally and works okay in i.e. Notepad and here in Edge.

Am I the only one reporting this?

Windows 10 and Office version 1808 (10730.20088)

Hi @Jørgen Koch, sorry to hear about this. We will take a look and get back to you. We have a couple of questions we are hoping you can answer so we can get to the bottom of it:

  • Do you have any idea when this behaviour started?
  • What version & OS build of Windows are you using? e.g. Version 1803 (OS Build 17134.228). You can get that by typing winver in the search.
  • Does this happen even when you type slowly? We have heard of a lag when writing in some languages and are wondering if this is related.
  • What accented characters does this happen with? Just the "é" or others?
  • Are you using an alt combination to form the characters?

Thanks Staff

I'm using Windows 10 version 1709 (16299.611)

Rebooted the computer this morning and now it works fine but have seen it of and on for the past 2–3 weeks (I think).

Happens/happened with any speed

I think all, but the é is mostly used

I am not using the Alt key, but use the accent key(s) next to and below Backspace on the Danish keyboard (Microsoft ergonomic 4000).
