SCCM 2403 KB29166583 Hotfix

Brass Contributor

Hello to all after installing the KB29166583 hotfix I am having issues imaging any device through OSD; the device is able to pxe boot and I also arrive up to the point where i can select an image to install however when choosing any image I get the below error:

And the following is the smstslog :

The adk is also updated to version 10.1.26100.1 which is the latest version available.

Is anyone having these problems? Anything I can try to maybe be able to get the deployments up and running again?

I am at a loss.

Thank you for any help.

I try it now, after replacing the dll it looks much better !

Lets pray for a quick fix. FFS Microsoft
We are moving on to the second week and I still am not seeing any official fix for this issue, did you get any feedback yet?
New hotfix is in the console. Who's gonna be the guinea pig though?
Lol I have a test sccm server but i will be able to try this update next week and see how it goes.
I will do 🙂 iam glad that someone report the issue and posted the workaround. I keep u informd.
First look after 4hours the problem should be solved i see 70 open connections to the SQL Server
SQL Server looks also good
Thank you for taking the time to test and answer back 👍🏻 so it seems that the update is stable.
So I had some time to test out the recent update and installed it on my sccm test server, it seems that this one so far is stable; I encountered no issues, osd imaging works fine, console remained stable and had no freezing issues.

HI @TStoner30

I do not have an OLD .dll to replace the newest one as we had not current backup, where could I get that file to replace.

we still have issues and we have not applied the newest Hotfix as very skeptical it will work even though it is available in updates.

thanks, K

The new one should be safe to install now. Otherwise you have to open an elevated ticket with microsoft to get the original 2403 locationmgr.dll

Hi guys,

I just did the 2403 and the Hotfix update on our SCCM last Friday, and from that moment on, our PXE has not worked anymore.

Looked into the SMSPXE.log and here it is:

What do you recommend me to do at this point? Is already 15.10.2024 and there is no fix from Microsoft.

Thanks in advance!

Edit:
Forgot to mention my local problem.

The issue for me is that when trying to deploy from an HP laptop using F12 (network boot order) + Choosing PXE over IPv4, it just does not find the server, it gets me back to the HP Menu to choose another option.

Tried everything that I had in mind, resetting Bios to default and remaking the settings, restarting the VM 2 times, and no difference. (it just won't see the PXE

Was pxe working with this model before? Do you have this models ethernet driver in the boot image? Is pxe working with other models?

Hi @StarFox64,

I tried so far with 2 models:
HP ZBook Fury G7 17 (Drivers included in the SCCM) - which failed this morning;
HP ProBook 455 G7 / 450 G9 (both failed, with the drivers included in the Task seq.)

All the laptops were working before the update. (and in general when it was not working, indeed, it was due to lack of drivers or something in the task seq.)
But now, it just gets stuck here:

Try redistributing your boot image. Right click the boot image in the console and update distribution points.

This one should be checked?

Wow you have an old build. You might want to go ahead and update your adk and winpe to 22621 first. I am deploying 10 and 11 24h2 now with that build no problem.
I'm not used to it, yet :D. (the SCCM was already configured when I joined the company a few years ago)
How should I update them?
Do you have any tips or things that I should look for? (guideline)

Thanks!

P.S.: Does updating the APK and WinPE affect anything else? Like updating those would force me to update other drivers as well? Just let me know

@Br3akTheRules I used this guide when I took over my environment https://www.anoopcnair.com/update-windows-adk-step-by-step-guide-for-sccm/

Some of the references are outdated, just make sure to use the Windows 11 22H2 ADK and WinPE and check which features you have enabled on the current boot image then enable them on the new boot image. I don't update my drivers unless there's an issue. Most of the time I don't have to add drivers with the newer update.

Thanks for the quick response.
If we have not moved yet to W11, still testing some user's experience, do you recommend getting the ADK and WinPE for W11 or 10? or would be the same?
I am deploying 10 and 11 with this ADK with no problem. Currently tesitng 24H2 as well and it works perfectly.
