Its really a bad idea to move Search to the top. When you click on the search, it covers a number of Ribbon items and we may need to select those ribbon items to be clicked while the cursor is in the search. the previous position was good.
While I don't think we will move it back to the same location it was before we are looking at a better option for surfacing search with in the community UI and also allow you to make it contextually relevent to the area you're currently browsing.
