FONT SIZE is really big

Space used by banner, menu in "height" is also big/taking lot of space

Does the place was builded to work on tablet exclusively ?

As a result, usage of vertical scroll to read conversation will become compulsory .... :|

Thanks for your feedback, @Eric JENOUVRIER! We're still working on the look and feel of the community, and this is great feedback for us.

Thanks @Maddie_Egan, I just feeling sad when in one hand I have a 1920x1080 pixels resolution n my computer, and on the other side I am just able to display 1,5 post on my screen, just imagine what will happen when everyone will come there and we will get thread with 100 reply !!! :)

1960x1080 pixel screen and just be able to display 1,5 post (omg) I will need a big vertical scrool.png

@Eric JENOUVRIER, I understand where you're coming from and will note your feedback. Smiley Happy

Then there is the Microsoft bit on a thick line of it's own at the top which really isn't needed. Can't we have something closer to Office 365 which seems to get it about right? The Microsoft name & logo could go in the middle where the organisation logo sits in O365.

The rest of the headers are too deep as well and could easily be trimmed in height and still be accessible on a tablet.

I know others have also mentioned the footer which is very deep and prevents people from using the keyboard to get to the last post on a page because they then have to scroll back up again. A goto bottom button to match the goto top might be a good idea - this should go to the last comment of course, not to the physical bottom.

Also the goto top button is far too large and it often overlaps the text making it difficult to read. It can also overlap the writing area making it very hard to write.

Then there is the whitespace - especially the vertical whitespace - in the comment cards when editing & when viewing. Having too much breaks the ability for people to scan the conversation easily and causes far too much scrolling. It is currently VERY difficult to follow a conversation.

This site needs way too much scrolling to view content both on desktop and mobile devices. If people comment with one line, I can only see three comments on my full hd monitor.  I my opinion it's quite unusable on all devices.  Even a screenshot from a mobile phone takes up the entire page.

I've got to add my support to this, I've got a Surface Pro running at 2160 x 1440 but you can barely see any of the content of the site, it's like it's running in 800 x 600 on this one site!

Hi @Eric JENOUVRIER you might notice we've made some changes to the layout - please take a look and tell us what you think!  The text is more compact, we've reduced the amount of space required to scroll.

Iron Contributor

I'm on a 1600 x 900 screen and can also see just one card/box. Far too big. Setting the zoom level in Edge to 75% is more along the lines  of what it needs to be as a starting point, at least at this resolution.

I'm feeling creative so my quick mockup, including some alterations to spacing as well. You may need to expand it to full size to view properly.

Header changes are coming soon @Michael Perry - will keep this thread updated as to our progress.  Thanks for the screens and feedback!

I noticed this has been marked as Rolled Out, but there looks to me to be plenty more to be resolved (e.g. this comment is pretty much the entirely of my screen), should we be creating a new thread which isn't marked as Rolled Out, because that seems to contrast @Jeff Medford's comment to use this thread?

Iron Contributor

If the Roled Out status is correct, I'm a bit flabbergasted.

I've been working with the PowerBi forum latetely and the UX is some much better than here. My suggestion: copy paste their css and change yellow to blue and that's the easiest path to a better working UX.

Microsoft

@Chris Moon - it should not be Rolled Out, as it is not.  Don't know why it got labeled as such.  I think we hit a couple of things in this long post, but not nearly enough to say Rolled Out.  I will set it back to the proper status.  We have a push to production coming tonight that will have a considerable amount of updates against this thread.

This should not have been moved to Rolled Out, adjusting the status and will come back to this tomorrow with some updates.  Thanks all for the feedback!

Iron Contributor

Looking forward to the updates. Anything you can say on the changes ahead?

Iron Contributor

Another I'm still a bit amazed by. The header when you're in a topic takes up 30% of the screen. It's 300px high and my whole area is just under 1000px.

Why the heck is taking so long to make some CSS changes? what happened to doing small, iterative, improvements at the speed of the internet? it has been over 2 weeks and September 1st is rapidly approaching with no significant UI improvements made.

For some reason, I was expecting to see some changes made every few days, am I being unrealistic?

What kind of UI review was done before this was release to Preview, i find it hard to believe that anybody approved this design..

Microsoft

Hi @Dean Gross - my apologies our efforts are taking so long. I hope that we can meet your expectations as we move forward with our sprints.

To all on this thread,

We have been pushing updates to the network for the last week and half, some I guess to small for most to notice, some others in line with feedback we have been getting.  I just posted a bit of a change log here : https://network.office.com/t5/Announcements/Office-365-Network-Preview-Change-Log-for-8-2/m-p/4203#M...

I am going to change this specific Idea to resolved.  I know there have been a bunch of pile on, but I want to make sure we are tracking the pile on as Ideas to be fixed/iterated on/etc - I will get some of them added to the Ideas list and we can move from there.

Thanks all for your patience and feedback.

Can we please remove the pagination! These make no sense in a site like this. Makes the miles scrolled seem even longer.

Steel Contributor

Dear me, "rolled out", seriously! There is still a lot of work needed. Agree with Philine's comment too. It should at least be selectable. Auto-extending would be best as this balances the initial view with usability.

All of the "cards" have far too much vertical white space still.

And we cannot "like" comments like you an in Yammer which is a serious disadvantage.

Microsoft

Hi @Julian Knight - absolutely correct, we have work still to do.  This "idea" has become very broad and as we have fixed a great deal of things within this idea, there are more to work on.  "Rolled Out" is where we stand on font and sizing (and many others) so love your feedback on the cards and other pieces.

I am a bit confused as to the "likes" comment as we allow for "likes" across a bunch of different experiences in the new community.  At the conversation level, up to the feed you get within a space, all can be liked.  Would love to know more about this scenario from you.

@Jeff Medford

Here is the screen i see in IE 11, there is no way for me to Like the post from @Julian KnightCantLike.png

Microsoft

I see what you mean now @Dean Gross .  That is specific to the Ideas "type" of post.  All the rest of post types on the site have "likes", but the intention of the Ideas post is that you vote once on the Idea and support with comments.  You have found the single case of not being able to "like" a reply on this site.  Thanks for the feedback.

Silver Contributor

@Jeff Medford, so does that mean it is a bug that will be fixed or a "feature" that makes this UI even more confusing?  A post is a post, having various types of posts that are not easily explained or discoverable is not helpful. I am getting very frustrated with the numerous inconsitencies between browers. This whole preview period has been quite annoying.

Steel Contributor

I agree with Dean that it is confusing. Also, the idea of "Likes" has become embedded in quickly showing support for something and this applies to comments in these ideas as much as it does elsewhere.

In regard to whether this idea was resolved, my comment is that fonts and sizing were not mentioned in the original idea. The issue that was raised is that there is too much (vertical) white space in the UI making it hard to read and forcing users to do excessive amounts of scrolling.

Whilst things have certainly been improved, I'm afraid it is still a very long way from being a practical day-to-day UI. There is still no quick way to get to the bottom of the page (which is a long scroll away) to see the latest post. There is still too much space between some structural elements (e.g. the comment box and the superfluous "Comment" word and betwee that and the "tabs" below it. Then the "email me box is on its own line even on wide displays, there is a big gap between that and the buttons and another bigger gap from there to the bottom of the box.

Comment cards not being edited have pretty crazy amounts of white space above the text containing - well not much honestly. I can't claim to be a UX expert by any means but this site is meant to be for IT Pros to share information. That is made very difficult when the UI has so many issues. The site, unlike consumer sites perhaps(?) - should be information dense. We are all busy and need to rapidly scan through dense data and make quick responses. For all its faults, that was one thing that Yammer was pretty good at. This site should be - and we expect it to be - better than the previous, not worse.

OK, enough, I'll climb off my high horse now - sorry.

Silver Contributor

@Jeff Medford can you please provide an update on the topic of reducing the amount of unused space?

Thanks

I think that there is still an excessive amount of white space and the emails we get are very poorly formatted. they are totally unreadable on a phone
