As communication sites should replace the publishing sites, our clients will need to enforce the corporate branding on them. So, my question is: what can be customized from the communication sites?

- page layouts (or what was before from master page and page layouts)

- colors

- fonts inside the text editors

- sizes / styles inside the text editors

- Custom Header / Footer

I would say the branding is going to be traditional themes in addition to the new capabilities with the next generation of the SharePoint Framework that they announced at Build.  For more info see this blog post from the Office team:

Branded or custom layouts could also be addressed with a set of templates that could then be selected for use on a site. Those templates could also allow some branding / customization. This would make page production more efficient then always creating a page from scratch, adding all the webparts etc.

Great question (and responses)! Yes, we are enabling modern themes - and a way to centrally store and reference them programmatically during or after site creation. This would complement the customizers Brian referenced and allow for scenario like Anna elaborates - to reconfigure site settings w/o having to manually re-do each time.

Hi Sean,

You seem to have locked down the composed look features. While you can choose from the existing composed looks, you can't add new font or colour pallette files to the theme folders (and the options are hidden from the menu (but accessible through the URL - /_catalogs/theme/Forms/AllItems.aspx). Is this not supported or is there a way around it?

Thanks,

Dave

Hi all,
We are also attempting to apply our branded theme to a new communications site (primarily to change one of the primary colours).
As Dave says the Themes folder is hidden within a Communications site and prevents uploads.
Any news on this ? Are themes not yet supported on Communication sites?

Hi @Deleted,

I think Theming is not yet supported, but will be soon. New site theming options for SharePoint sites in Office 365

But I havent seen anywhere if this will allow also developers to customize the themes or just to have more ootb options. Maybe someone from Microsoft can confirm.

Anyone have any idea how one might go about changing the default SharePoint favicon when using a Communications Site? What Master Page is it using, where do I find it, and how do I change it?

Thanks!

I am also interested to figure out how the favicon can be changed on a Communications site? Anyone?
