By popular request, we’ve introduced a weekly digest so that you can review Message Center communications via email. It is easy to share an email with other interested parties without granting access to the Admin Center, and important notifications from the Office 365 team should be available where you do work – your inbox. Don’t forget, Message Center can be accessed in the Admin Center, Admin Mobile App, and Service Communications API, as well as the new Message Center Weekly Digest. The weekly digest capability is currently available to Office 365 admins who are set to First Release in tenants with more than 50 subscribed users.

We are very aware of this e-mail digest :-)...but also waiting for the ability to include additional e-mails to send the digest...is this coming soon?

Or in my case, to be able to unsubscribe from it. The settings appeared briefly in the Admin center, but are since gone. So I'm stuck receiving the same message on several different GA accounts :)

This should already be an option in 'Edit Message center preferences' in the Message center, you can specify 'Other email address' (if this appears in the tenant in question).  I can't see why this couldn't be a distribution group, just add the people you want to receive the digest into the DG, if that would work.

Why limit this to tenants of +50 subscribers?

@Cian ...at least in my case it's not an option :-)...I can only modify the services I want to see/receive messagens and I'm on first release too

We just started expanding to include tenants with fewer than 50 users. I updated the roadmap last week but hadn't gotten a chance to follow up in this thread.

 

No update on unsubscribe capabilities yet. Just thinking out loud... Could you have it sent to an unused email address or a mailbox that you only check periodically?

It seems to have defaulted to the backup/recovery email address for any Global Admin accounts in the tenant. For me that happens to be email addresses I check daily. But I think it's highly likely that you'll have customers who set up a specific Outlook.com/Gmail mailbox with 2FA specifically for that purpose, and probably don't check the mailbox very often.

 

IMO the best way for you to handle this is to provide an options page where we can tick/untick the admin roles we want to notify, and we can also add any extra SMTP addresses like a DL or a Team channel's email address.

Sorry, I overlooked the setting, but this should be there already. If you switch this setting to Off, the tenant should stop sending emails to you. Or do you mean that it can't be fully disabled for global admin accounts?

If I log in and change those settings, does that only change them for the admin account I'm logged in with? Are they per-user or tenant-wide?

 

To be more specific, let's say I want to not email individual admins with the weekly digest at all, but I want it to go just to a DL that includes some admins, change managers, business stakeholders, and so on.

 

Edit: this has just turned up in my tenants in the last 24 hours or so, so I haven't had a chance to thoroughly test it.

Trying to work out why I am getting multiple digests for some tenants, and I realise now it's sending to the backup email address for every global admin account. So if a tenant has 2-3 global admin accounts, let's say one of them is the one I use for admin, the others are service accounts or third party access accounts, but all three have me as the backup email address, then I'll get three digests.

 

Does this mean I need to log in to every tenant with every admin account and disable them on a per-admin basis? It seems to me that a per-tenant digest configuration would be more convenient.

Brian, circling back to this as I've become frustrated by the number of digests I'm receiving. I sat down to start logging into admin accounts one by one and turn off the emails.

 

Site note: a PowerShell method of achieving this would be very much appreciated.

 

Anyway, to my surprise, I discovered that I'm receiving 2x weekly digests for a tenant that has been inactive (no licenses) for a very long time. I'm getting one for the main global admin account, and one for the external account that was created when I granted my Microsoft Account (from my Azure sub) access to the tenant for Azure AD administration.

 

Further to my surprise, I'm able to login to the very old, abandoned tenant to disable the digests. Putting aside the question of why this tenant exists at all, it does raise the point that perhaps rolling out this digest to tenants with no active licenses is quite unnecessary and is probably just causing unwanted email to a bunch of people like myself.
