What is Add/Moving Subscription between Management Group?

Copper Contributor

Hi,

What is the difference between Adding or Moving a Subscription between the Management Group and whether a Subscription can participate with more than one subscription

 @MohdRizv@MohdRizvi89 The Hierarchy is Management groups ==> Subscription ==> Resouces groups ==> Resources. Subscriptions are always added under the Management groups either at root level if you don't have any or it will be created if you have sub management groups. the purpose is management groups is to provide governance and apply polices When you add a new subscription you are creating a logical patriation under that management groups maybe one for development, prod When you are moving the subscription it is more of cut and paste you are moving to another management group which means subscription can participate on one management group only

@Chandrasekhar_Arya

Hello,

We have a a few subscriptions with lots of resources under a root Management group. I recently created some child Management Groups, and would like to organise our subscriptions as recommended by Microsoft.

We have a few subscription policies implemented within the scope of the various subscriptions, but no Management group policies. I would like to know if moving the Subscriptions to the Management groups would have any effects on the permissions, service principals and managed identities within our various subscriptions?
