Azure storage data centre and M365 data

Iron Contributor

We are using a backup product to backup a component of our data held in M365. Backups are stored in Azure. Location of Azure storage account is same as our M365 tenant. My question is whether it is possible that both our backup data and our M365 tenant are in same Azure data centre as that will reduce the resiliency of our backup solution.

Solution
Yes, it's possible.

Keep in mind a lot of Azure regions have 3 datacenters (Availability Groups), and if your backups are ZRS there is a copy in each datacenter.

It's a good callout to make, having your Storage Account georedundant will help your resiliency by copying the data to a datacenter in another region.
