multi session for windows 10 professional

Iron Contributor

we are using m365 business premium and so our end user machine are license with windows 10 professional.

we would like to implement windows virtual desktop so in order to have similar experience as physical machine, we would also use windows 10 professional in WVD.

is there a multi-session for windows 10 professional in WVD or only windows 10 enterprise?

if we use windows 10 enterprise for WVD because of multi-session, will there be any impact on cost and license of users who are m365 business premium and will be using windows 10 enterprise in WVD??

Hi @jrng,

I'm pretty sure that multi-session is Windows 10 Enterprise only.

thanks. anyone has the same situation as me? using m365 business premium but want to deploy WVD as multi-session.

if we use windows 10 enterprise for WVD because of multi-session, will there be any impact on cost and license of users who are currently in m365 business premium and will be using windows 10 enterprise in WVD?

Hi @jrng,

you wrote that you are using Microsoft 365 Business Premium?

(Are you referring to the new name coming with 21.04.2020?)

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/blog/2020/03/30/new-microsoft-365-offerings-small-and-...

But anyway if you are using Microsoft 365 Business (which will become M365 Business Premium) then you are allowed to use WVD with the multi-session images.

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/office365/servicedescriptions/microsoft-365-service-descriptions/mi...

But there was a limitation with M365 Business that you are only allowed to connect to your WVD's from your licensed Win10-Pro device.

But checking the official site right now, Microsoft changed the description:

https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/pricing/details/virtual-desktop/

*Customers can access Windows Virtual Desktop from their non-Windows Pro endpoints if they have a Microsoft 365 E3/E5/F1/Business/A3/A5/Student Use Benefits or Windows 10 VDA per user license.

Maybe someone from Microsoft can confirm this?

yes, i am referring to the new name - Microsoft 365 Business Premium.

looks like only the windows 10 enterprise version supports multi-session.

anyone same situation as me? organization is using Microsoft 365 Business Premium license for users so license is windows 10 pro business for physical machine. if i want multi-session in WVD, i use the enterprise version, how does it affect the user experience, cost and license of m365 business premium users in a long run? any problem if user is m365 business premium is using windows 10 pro in physical machine and then login to WVD and use as windows 10 enterprise?

thanks
