Host Pool Property "Ring" - What is the intended use?

Brass Contributor

Hello,

I have adopted a "Ring" concept for managing Host Pool image versions.  This works well for deploying new Host Pools from updated images while providing a good way to test the update, transition users and ultimately have a fallback plan if needed.

But I've noticed a Host Pool property actually called "ring" and I'm curious about its intended use.  I cant find any reference to it or how it should be used other than the definition of "The ring number of HostPool" as referenced in the PowerShell documentation.

You can even add this property to the Host Pool view in the Azure Portal.

Does anyone have any information about this?

I see...  Okay, at lest I don't have to wonder anymore.

@Pavithra Thiruvengadam - I know that this thread is old, however, if this has no relevance to the customer, why does an AVD CSS Diagnostic came back with "[Warning] Host pool ring: R0. This is a validation ring, intended for testing, not for production use!". Does this mean that MS placed our AVDs into a "validation ring" and we need to contact them to move it?
