In the Microsoft Remote Desktop MacOS app, if you want to login with a Microsoft Entra (aka Azure Active Directory) account, you will get an error message saying you must disable Network Level Authentication (NLA). The error code I get is 0x3107.   I am able to get around this error by editing the RDP config file and setting the enablerdsaadauth and targetisaadjoined values from "0" to "1".    It would be immensely helpful if this option could be added in the Microsoft Remote Desktop GUI. It looks like all the functionality is there, it just needs a GUI checkbox.   This option already exists in Windows Remote Desktop if you enable the "use web account" option on the advanced tab.   I realize this is not an issue for Azure Virtual Desktop, because the config is downloaded and set up automatically. But for everyone who is using Microsoft Entra that may need to provide instructions for users to set this up, the option would make life a lot easier. ... View more

I updated the mac RDP client to version 10.9.6, and a bug was introduced in the update. Audio from the host machine becomes delayed with respect to the video by a greater and greater amount during the course of a session. We are using the Microsoft RDP client for a lab product we are working on. On windows, we can encrypt the password and store it in the RDP client, thereby launching the user directly into the VM.   On Mac, there seems to be no way to pass in a password in the RDP file or via the command line. All of our external customers have their own AAD / Entra ID and wish to not manage multiple identities. As we present our applications via AVD, it requires them to have a separate identity in our tenant currently. AVD should support guest accounts from another tenant to be able to sign in.    Currently, per the documentation and per the ticket I just worked with Microsoft support:   Azure Virtual Desktop doesn't support external identities, including guest accounts or business-to-business (B2B) identities. Whether you're serving internal commercial purposes or external users with Azure Virtual Desktop, you'll need to create and manage identities for those users yourself.   Please continue development to allow guest accounts that have been invited into a tenant to sign in to AVD machines. I noticed that when we deploy Remote Desktop Client from https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/virtual-desktop/whats-new-client-windows, it installs to C:\Program Files\Remote Desktop which is a per-machine install location but the MSI is set up as a per-user install context. This can lead to problems if an old version of RDC is installed and a new version is installed by Intune for a new user as the old version will be overwritten without being first uninstalled.   To fix this, the MSI should be designed to support a per-device installation context which installs to C:\Program Files\Remote Desktop or a per-user installation context which installs to %appdata%\Remote Desktop. An MSI can support both configurations at the same time.   Right now, Intune treats it as a per-user installer but installs to the per-device installation folder and breaks things when updating it so I'm forced to run an old version. ... Add an option in the Remote Desktop app for MacOS to swap the modifier keys before sending it to Remote Desktop, rather than just transferring MacOS copy, cut, find, and paste shortcuts. Hello! This is a strange bug we'd encountered a few years back and which we confirmed still affects the new version of the AVD web client.   The issue we encountered can be reproduced as follows:   Navigate to RDP Properties > Device Redirection on your host pool. Set Audio Output Location to "Do Not Play Sounds."   Device redirection (remote desktop virtual drive, remote desktop virtual printer) functionality will break in the web client.
