Looking to migrate workloads to Azure? Azure SQL VMs are a great place to start. We have the same full version of SQL Server that we know and love that we’ve been using on-premises. When migrating to an Azure VM, there are certain needs to take into consideration when sizing the VM. Azure VMs come in various types and sizes. The types help narrow down the general use of the VM, such as general-purpose, compute-optimized, memory-optimized, and more. Within that type, you have varying sizes based on the amount of CPU, memory, potential disk, and more. Knowing the types, sizes, and limitations is key to having a successful migration. In this episode of Data Exposed: MVP Edition, let's review some baseline metrics from a SQL Server workload and step through the process to find the correct size virtual machine with Tim Radney and Anna Hoffman.
