License on-premise defender for server VMs

Copper Contributor

Hi,

i would like to know if someone can tell me how do i have to license defender for endpoint (server) on a on-premises virtual machine? In Azure the defender is licensed via ASC standard plan. How does it work? Kind Regards

Sebastian

Once you've connected your on-prem servers to ASC/AzD via Azure Arc, your server will be automatically onboarded to MDE (assuming you've enabled that integration in the portal) and you will be charged the same price as for an Azure VM (AzDefender for Servers plan).

Thanks Stanislav :) Are there still possibilities to license EDR apart from ASC licensing? Does the customer have an advantage if he has EDR licenses like MS365 E5 or are these different EDR ways of licensing? What about self hosted SQL servers and defender in Azure? Does the VM simply need the Defender plan via the ASC like any other and is it included as well? Kind Regards Sebastian
Thank you Stanislav :)
Hi Guy,
Do you know Microsoft defender for business server license can still provide to the customers ?
Did Microsoft have changed any policies ?
