Azure VM Insights

Hi, 

I can see that VM monitoring has progressed since I last used it and I was wondering if the following is true:

If I enable VM Insights then there is no need to configure VM Diagnostic Settings as the CPU, RAM, Disk, etc is all covered within VM Insights.

However Windows event log collection via log analytics is still required via the agent configuration in the workspace. Also do I then still need to configure the performance counters here or will VM Insights cover this?

Hi, VMInsights will start to collect heartbeat, VM process and network connection information, and some performance counters. You can then use data collection rules to start to collect other performance counters or events.,
