Experiencing Latency and Data Loss issue in Azure Portal for Many Data Types in East US - 10/13 - Resolved

We've confirmed that all systems are back to normal with no customer impact as of 10/13, 05:30 UTC. Our logs show the incident started on 10/13, 01:50 UTC and that during the 3 hours 40 minutes that it took to resolve the issue some customers in EUS region may have experienced data access issues in Azure Portal and may have experienced around 6% of data loss in metrics and possible data loss in continuous export. Service Map, VM Insights and container insights may have also seen data access issues during the impacted window.
  • Root Cause: The failure was due to azure storage outage in East US region.

We
are aware of issues within Application Insights starting at Saturday, 12 October 2018 6:50 PST. and are actively investigating.
We are seeing ingestion delays for data, along with 6% data loss for metrics
and possible data loss in continuous export.



Service Map and VM Insights, Container Insights also experienced ingestion
delays in the region.
