We've confirmed that all systems are back to normal with no customer impact as of 1/17, 00:00 UTC. Our logs show the incident started on 1/16, 23:17 UTC and that during the ~43 mins that it took to resolve the issue customers experienced data access issue while accessing application insights in East US region.
  • Root Cause: The failure was due to heavy query load on the backend service.
