Experiencing Alerting failure issue in Azure Portal for Many Data Types - 08/18 - Resolved

We've confirmed that all systems are back to normal with no customer impact as of 08/19 2:20 UTC. Our logs show the incident started on 08/18 1:10 UTC and that during the 25 hours 10 minutes that it took to resolve the issue some customers who configured Availability test to run from US regions would have experienced failures in Azure Portal.
  • Root Cause: The failure was due to issues with one of the back end service.

We understand that customers rely on Application Insights as a critical service and apologize for any impact this incident caused.

We continue to investigate issues within Application Insights. Root cause is not fully understood at this time. Some customers who configured Availability test to run from US regions continue to experience issues in Azure Portal. We are working to establish the start time for the issue, initial findings indicate that the problem began at 08/18 01:10 UTC. We currently have no estimate for resolution.

We are aware of issues within Application Insights and are actively investigating. Some customers in US regions may experience availability test issues in Azure Portal.
