Azure Maps now available of Azure Government Cloud

Microsoft

Microsoft Azure Government delivers a cloud platform built upon the foundational principles of security, privacy and control, compliance, and transparency. Public Sector entities receive a physically isolated instance of Microsoft Azure that employs world-class security and compliance services critical to U.S. government for all systems and applications built on its architecture.

Today, Azure Maps is announcing, its availability on Azure Government Cloud. Azure Government offers the most extensive compliance certifications of any cloud provider on the market. And, as regulations change, your compliance coverage will keep pace with their evolution. Learn more at the Microsoft Trust Center. The availability of Azure Maps on Azure Government Cloud means that you can now easily include Geospatial & Location Intelligence capabilities in solutions deployed on Azure Government Cloud. Some of the use cases for Azure Maps include:

Smart Mobility: Despite developing solutions to address traffic congestion, governments across many countries continue to battle lengthening commute times. The increase in urban populations combined with the rise of populations in suburban areas is generating complex commuting between & within these areas. Azure Maps is central to providing a technology platform that forms the backbone of a city: with its real time traffic information, combined with real time transit and ride share information, it can enable cities to better plan efficient mobility for its citizens that takes into account traffic forecasts, route planning and more.

Public safety: Most often, the planning & preparedness required to help reduce loss of life and property, during emergencies requires geographic information and intelligence. Planners need to understand areas where emergency events could occur, where citizen safety is at risk and where community vulnerabilities exist. Azure Maps provides the capability to ingest data from various sources and analyze the information so that cities can be better equipped to deal with public safety challenges. Azure Maps can help Public Safety Agencies by providing first responders information to make optimized safety decisions. Using Azure Maps, agencies can better plan on recovering from emergencies quickly and providing business continuity.

A great example of a partner that is delivering solutions on Azure Government cloud is Hexagon Safety and Infrastructure. Their HXGN OnCall portfolio helps public safety agencies of all sizes be more agile and resilient through modernized capabilities spanning call-taking and dispatch, records, analytics, major event management, and mobility.

Disaster and Emergency Management: In large, complex emergency situations, the services of multiple departments and agencies come into play. There is a need to obtain, analyze & share data from multiple locations. Azure Maps can be used to quickly gather the data, analyze for insights and make assessments of risks and hazards to property, populations and natural resources. The platform also helps agencies better manage an incident by combining data from multiple sources and helping them understand the scope of the emergency. When resources are scarce, Azure Maps can help agencies assign these resources where they are needed most.

Criminal Justice: Geospatial platforms are very useful for identifying crime hotspots, assigning resources and mapping crime. Azure Maps can give geospatial context to real world incidents and help police officers optimize the time in narrowing down on and apprehending suspects. Azure Maps, by using its data & spatial analysis capabilities (in combination with Azure AI & Azure IoT), empower law enforcement to optimize their operations and augment their capabilities through geofencing, efficient routing and location prediction.
