Hi,
I would like to run an Excel training class using Azure Lab Services. How to I acquire or purchase Excel licenses so course attendees can use Excel on the lab VMs? And practically how do i set this up - do I install Excel and add a license on the template VM?

@MarkWilcock - If your institution doesn't currently have M365\O365 licensing or per-device licensing for Office, I recommend that you reach out to a Microsoft account specialist who can help you determine the best licensing option for you.
If your institution has M365/O365 licenses, then you can have Office (including Excel) installed on the template VM. Activation happens when a user signs into the app the first time and the license is assigned to the user.
You can also use per-device licensing to acquire a device SKU. You will need to assign a device license to the VM and set up a group policy to indicate it will be device licensed. Activation will also happen the first time when launching the Office app.
