Create a Shared Image Gallery

Please does anyone know if there is there a step-by-step guide/walkthrough for creating our own VM images that we can then publish in the Shared Image Gallery.

I want to either upload my own Windows 10 customised generalised image or start with a new Windows 10 image, add my own software and then make it available to my students.

Hello Andrew! Apologies for the delay in response. 

First step would be to attach a shared image gallery to the lab account

Professor should now be able to export the required template VM to the shared image gallery.

If you would like to use a custom VHD image, below is the step by step process -

• For Windows VMs, generalize the source VM by using Sysprep.
• Follow the same DevTest Lab procedure of uploading the VHD into a Storage Account.
• Create an image snapshot of the VHD. This can only be achieved through PowerShell.
• From the Shared Image Gallery, create an image definition and version. When prompted for the Source Image, pick the previously created image snapshot.
• From labs.azure.com, professor should now be able to create a new Lab starting from the image in the Shared Image Gallery.
