Hey everyone,

We hope you found the previous post on Accelerated Lab Account set-up guide helpful.

This blog post talks about setting up a lab using lab services. A classroom lab contains virtual machines (VMs) that are each assigned to a single student. In general, you can expect to:

  • Have one classroom lab for each class.
  • Create a new set of classroom labs each semester (or for each time frame your class is offered).

The process for publishing a lab to your students can take up to several hours depending on the number of virtual machines (VMs) that will be created in your lab. You should give yourself at least a day to set up a lab to ensure that it's working properly and to allow enough time to publish students' VMs. While setting up a lab for a class, the step 0 is to better understand class requirements, such as:

  • What software requirements does the class have?
  • What hardware requirements does the class have?

  • What dependencies does the class have on external Azure or network resources?

  • How will costs be controlled?

  • How will students save their work?
  • How will students connect to their VM?

To help you think through these questions and guide you through the process of creating a classroom lab, we created an Accelerated Lab set-up guide

Please give it a read and let us know if you have any questions or feedback.
