All the votes (for September) are in!

As we race through into darkness of the winter months we present you with another collection of great articles from generous authors across the globe who give their time and intellect so that we may stay abreast of the changing technologies we need to know. We have a new format for Wiki contributions planned for the 2020s, so it is with great pleasure that we present you with what's fresh and factual from the inbox of TechNet Wiki. Enjoy!

Below are the results for the TechNet Guru Awards, September 2019 !!!!

The TechNet Guru Awards celebrate the technical articles on TechNet, contributed from valued wiki authors like YOU! Each month, the contributions are scored by a panel of judges (5 per category, 2-3 in each are MS experts), and the winners of each category are showered with love and attention from all corners of TechNet. See the links at the bottom, to find out more about the competition and how to enter.

We have picked the top three highest scored contributions for each category to bestow our awards upon. The awards are in gold, silver and bronze, the gold obviously being the top winner of the category. The last column is just a few of the comments judges made during the judging process.

My fellow wiki ninjas will be digging deeper into some of these articles in this blog series, so watch out for those.   Any of our judges can exercise their right to veto an article, if they do not feel it meets minimum requirements for a medal. When this is the case, we will at least give an indication of the reason, so you understand why.

A big thank you also to the other authors who did not make the top three of each category.

Some articles only just missed out, so we may be returning to discuss those too, in future blogs.

   ASP.NET Technical Guru - September 2019

Gold Award Winner

Vignesh.M ASP.NET Core: Getting Started (Part 3) Jeff Fritz: "There are English language usage problems around the term "Basic". Also, the brand "ASP.NET Core" should have the C in Core capitalized. These edits are required"
Sabah Shariq: "Looks good. But very basic, instead of making each section of getting started in multiple series make them in one article so it is easier to track and read."
Rajat Jaiswal: "Nice explanation :)"

   Microsoft 365/O365 Technical Guru - September 2019

Mikael Svenson: "Step 1 seems to have the wrong image(?). Formatting of the step headlines are a bit off. Sometimes a proper headline, sometimes bolded in sentence."
Mohamed El-Qassas: "Good article and valuable solution. It would be great to - Add "conclusion" section - Add "See Also" section for other related solutions articles that you have published Thanks for sharing your knowledge in WIKI!"

Silver Award Winner

Arleta Wanat SharePoint Online: Monitoring site script errors Mohamed El-Qassas: "Awesome article as usual Arleta, valuable content and well-organized article, I love it! It would be great to - Add your GitHub link to a new download section. - Add a conclusion section. Thanks for sharing your valuable knowledge in WIKI!"
Mikael Svenson: "As you reference PnP core members, it would be useful to see the PnP PowerShell cmdlets for the same scenarios. Adds even more value to article as those can be run using app-only tokens, and thus used in an automation scenario without logging in as a SharePoint admin as the SPO cmdlets require."

Bronze Award Winner

Burak VAROL Exchange Online: Set Attachment Sharing Preference as "Attach as a Copy" in OWA Mikael Svenson: "Very valuable step by step and explaining why this is usefule."
Mohamed El-Qassas: "Simple, short and valuable solution! It would be great to - Add a conclusion section to get the reader a brief summary about your article. - I also have noted you added a doc Microsoft link as a reference below each command, so I would suggest adding a reference section for such links! Thanks for sharing your knowledge in WIKI!"

Mikael Svenson: "The article states about developing appplications and focus purely on what is needed for developing a bot. An application is more likely to be a Teams tab, so I would mention the ways to start a Teams tab application - also includig using SPFx for such scenarios."
  • Edit PDF files from SharePoint online site by Habibur Rahaman

Priyaranjan Ks: "Nicely written Ramakrishnan, a good practical way of using Cognitive services"
Mikael Svenson: "Advocating use of jQuery in this day and age for doing ajax calls is not beneficial. All new browsers can use fetch, or a polyfill for it if needed. Also, this works for a developer, but not a random user as how will you deploy and run it? Works as a tech demo (and has been done before) so would be beneficial to explain some actual use cases."
