At Microsoft Ignite 2019 we announced the general availability of Azure Database for MySQL reserved capacity, This new pricing option enables savings of up to 50%* compared to the pay-as-you-go pricing associated with pre-paying for MySQL database vCores for a one-year term.
Apply reserved capacity to a single subscription or share across your resources
Azure Database for MySQL reserved capacity is scoped to a single resource group, a single subscription, or can be shared. This pricing option allows you to control how many subscriptions take advantage of the benefit and how the reserved capacity is applied to specific subscriptions.
Keep your savings when you need to make changes
Azure Database for MySQL reserved capacity provides vCore size flexibility that enables scaling up or down within a performance tier and region without impacting your reserved capacity. For example, if the user purchases 16 Gen5 vCores of reserved capacity for Azure Database for MySQL general purpose and decide to deploy a 4 vCore database server and an 8 vCore database server, both with Gen 5 compute, your reserved capacity benefit will automatically apply to both. If the user decides to scale up your server to 8 vCores, the reserved capacity benefit will also automatically apply.
Azure Database for MySQL reserved capacity is available for a one-year commitment and can be purchased through the Azure portal. For more information on reserved capacity pricing, please visit the Azure Database for MySQL pricing page and see our service documentation.
