r/place on Reddit this weekend featured the Windows Start Button and Taskbar!

Five years ago, Reddit hosted an experience that merged artwork and community in a subreddit called r/place. Over the weekend, that subreddit was re-activated and communities gathered together to cut out their own space to create some amazing masterpieces of pixel art.

The idea is simple: every user is allowed to place 1 pixel per 5 mins. Work together in groups to build, or destroy. The final artwork that was created in 2017 included the Windows Start Button and Taskbar and it looks like the Reddit communities have done it again:

I spent a part of my weekend building some of the roads that you see wandering between the flags and memes. Did anyone else out there join in the fun? What did you help build?

I don't think they've said when it will shut down today but you can still participate so place a pixel and be a part of the artwork: https://www.reddit.com/r/place/
