Welcome to the Microsoft Edge Insiders community

Hello Microsoft Edge Insiders!

Ever since we first announced in December that Microsoft Edge was going to adopt the Chromium open source project for our desktop browser, we’ve been excited to begin launching our Insider community. The time has finally come, and everyone can try out the new version of the browser right now!

We want to use this opportunity to start building a close relationship with all of you. Going beyond collecting comments and reviews, we’re eager to listen and engage in active conversations with you. We believe your collective voices will help us build a better Microsoft Edge, and that’s our vision for this community.

With our recent adoption of Chromium, Microsoft Edge gets a chance to grow beyond its initial home on Windows 10. As we’ve reflected on the best ways to enable a new listening system to support other versions of Windows and platforms, we’ve realized that our goals should be based on what we want as customers, not as engineers or designers.

What would such a system look like? That’s where all of you come in. Based on the feedback you’ve graciously given us over the past few years, we know it’s important to be able to quickly and easily send us problems or suggestions from directly within the browser. You also want a way to engage meaningfully and deeply with the developers, as well as a way to get immediate support when you run into a problem that you can’t fix on your own.

Other Insider programs at Microsoft have provided good models for us to follow for our new community. However, the Microsoft Edge Insider community has one important difference: you don’t need to sign up. Just downloading and using the Microsoft Edge Canary, Dev, or Beta channels is enough.

We hope that this relationship can be beneficial for both parties. For you, this isn’t just about being a member of an active group of fellow browser enthusiasts. You also get: a chance to see new features before all the other Microsoft Edge users; an in-depth understanding of how and why we built them, a direct channel of communication with the engineers responsible for them, and the chance to critique them and suggest what we should build next. We at Microsoft get valuable early feedback, your verbal and written insights about what you do and don't like about a given feature or approach, which will help us steer the product in the right direction. The ability to dig deeper and understand the why behind the what, while learning from a large and diverse worldwide audience. Finally, through our continuing conversations, we hope Insiders will invite others in their own communities to come and join in our conversation.

welcome-graphic2.pngSo, what can you expect from us? As our new features start making their way into the builds, our goal is to publish at least one new article every other week to inform and encourage active discussions on the latest developments in the Insider channels. We are devoting some of our time to reading and responding to every thread, and you can expect direct interaction from the Microsoft Edge team that promotes the deepest, most enlightening discussions.

We’re fully committed to building an open, honest and respectful community of awesome Insiders like you. We hope you’ll join our discussions or start your own today.
Welcome to our community. We can’t wait to build a great Edge community together!

@Elliot Kirk Honestly excited about this.  Dark mode would be an awesome feature.  Would also love to see the ability to default to the MS Print dialog.  The Chromium print preview is slow, and causes issues with several websites I have run into.  I know printing isnt at the top of a lot of peoples list, but in the auto industry, we are still forced to do it often.  Waiting for a failed print preview render on chrome is exceedingly frustrating.   Thanks for making this change.  A default microsoft browser to support will be a great thing.  Hopefully I can ban chrome at our organization soon :)

@RavenholmZombie

To have this Edge dark, > edge://flags, type Dark in the seach box & enable these ⬇

@Deleted

Have you tested this w/ it as the default browser?  I'm trying that now, myself.

@Mace242

There are heaps of things this does not have, yet. A Favs star, Reading view, Web notes and so much more.  It is tough, right now, to know what to say is missing, wanted, needed OR not done YET.  Oodles of familiar Features & Functionality isn't there. What IS there is ok & the performance seems good.  Personally, I keep hoping (Read: expecting) we'll have the rest, anon.

Cheers,
Drew

That's profoundly dumb!

Well, then, thank the gods for the Desktop toolbar since nobody wants or needs to have icons all over the desktop possibley covering some nice graphics.  Desktop isn't an idea storage place nor a pinning place. A icon on the taskbar cannot be covered by a window; unlike if using the desktop for such things.

Of course, one uses the Desktop toolbar, anyway... so, (what few) icons are, already, not showing on the desktop (& covering things).

Cheers,
Drew

The font is far smaller and much harder to read on, say a 15 inch laptop at 1080 and 96 dpi. Some of the things, such as accessability settings are far harder to read too.

Hi, a nice feature would be to make it portable. Similar to how you can make Visual Studio Code portable.

How about adding CLEAN WHEN EXIT FUNCTION@Elliot Kirk

@Drew1903

I could no connect to my old WD Cloud Drive with previous version of Edge.

Had to goto Goggle, now I can can  connect using new edge!

Grate Update!

Hello, is there any chance of offering Chromecast support in the new Edge Browser ?

@Elliot Kirk

I am only looking for two things, and in-built AdBlocker just like we have in Android version, and in-built Tor just like we have in brave browser. Brave Browser even has it's own brilliant ad-blocker,script blocker and a lot of great stuff. We can directly use Tor with Alt+Shift+N. No extra download or anything needed, and Brave too uses Chromium. Please implement these two!

As of now, I'm sticking to Brave because of great privacy and ad-blocking.

@Elliot Kirk will there be a uservoice with voting and feedback or will it just be this rather non-hierarchical community? I know several people as well as me who want to vote for the option of NOT seeing the news topics at the bottom of the new tab window (stop feeding dopamine to the easily distracted), and it would be good to know how best to share feedback that people want to amplify ;)

@Elliot KirkAny update from the team on how we can update our extension for Chromium Edge?

@Elliot Kirk Hello . Please add media controller for PiP mode , similar to Opera browser.

Hi @Amin Akmali, what level of control ar eyou looking for?
I dont know where to post this but here goes.How do you turn off the favorites bar on the new tab.I have tried everything & nothing works.
Next button , volume , media timeline
In the chrome web store (which works on the new edge yuss!) there's an extention called ''dark reader'' it's essentially a full dark mode! As for the top part, there's themes in both microsoft and chrome stores that can change it to dark, also changing your computers theme to dark will work!
