Diagnose performance bottlenecks of your web app with Azure Load Testing

With App Service Diagnostics, customers of Azure App Service aim to achieve service availability and resilience of their web applications. In this blog post, we’ll cover how App Service users can navigate to Azure Load Testing amidst diagnosing performance bottlenecks.

 

Azure Load Testing is a fully managed load testing service that enables you to easily generate large-scale load. It provides actionable insights that can help identify performance, scalability and capacity issues. Azure customers can monitor their applications in Azure Load Testing during the load simulation to analyze the consumption of their resources.

 

Azure App Service helps you build and host web apps, mobile backends, and RESTful APIs in any programming language. However, it’s prudent to be prepared for any potential problems when running a web application, from 500 errors to your site being down. This is precisely where App Service Diagnostics takes centre stage. It is a smart and interactive tool that can help identify and solve issues with your app.

 

I am excited to share that the diagnostics tool now recommends you to perform load testing on your application!

 

Load test your App Service app

 

The latest update within App Service Diagnostics empowers App Service customers to easily access Azure Load Testing, aiding in the identification of performance issues.

 

  1. Navigate to your App Service web app in the Azure portal.
  2. In the left navigation, click on Diagnose and solve problems.
  3. Within the Troubleshooting Categories, you will find the tile to Load Test your App. You can click on ‘Create Load Test’ to begin testing your application for high-scale load.

 

  1. The link will direct you to Azure Load Testing. Here, you can see the resources created under your subscription. If you already have a resource, refer to this for seamlessly creating tests for your applications.

 

  1. If you don’t have a resource, you can also create a new Azure Load Testing resource under your subscription. This can be followed by creating URL-based tests or JMeter-based tests. Follow this documentation for detailed steps.

 

Azure Load Testing now supports 24-hour test runs and up to 100,000 virtual users, enabling you to conduct soak tests and spike tests on your applications. So, don’t delay your performance testing any longer!
