Using Superscript option in Fraction of an equation

Copper Contributor

I wanted to write an equation. I went to insert → equation → fraction and selected  one of it. I wanted to superscript a number in numerator but superscript option in home tab  was Blur/Non clickable . That is why i couldn't superscript it . I tried to place this number (6.0655×10-5  ) in numerator but i couldn't place (-5) in superscript position. What can i do now to use superscript/subscript option in an equation or in numerator position of an equation?

@Sahabuddin Between the 10 and the -5, type a caret (that is, the ^ character, on most keyboards it's a Shift character in the number row). After the -5 type a space character. That should make the -5 a superscript.

To make a subscript, use an underscore character, _ , instead of the caret.

If you prefer to use buttons on the ribbon, in an equation you must use the ones in the Equation Tools ribbon. There you'll find a button labeled Script, which opens a menu of placeholders for superscripts and subscripts.
