server 2016 transition

Copper Contributor

Hello, my question may be in the wrong place. We are adding a new server running window server 2016 to replace a server 2008 server. we will add the new server and transfer domain controller roles to new server. my question is we will also be upgrading exchange server 2010 to exchange 2016. the issue is exchange is running on the 2008 domain controller. what's the best steps to move the exchange to another server. do we move it before we demote the domain controller or after. I know Microsoft doesn't recommend running exchange on a domain controller, but it is there and we will move it to a member server any help would be appreciated

Solution

Move the Exchange for new server and migrate all mailbox.

After change the Exchange do you can migrate the Domain Controller for new server.
