Windows Server 2012 R2: IISRESET doesn't work after July Windows Updates

Copper Contributor

Hi All,

on 15 July 2018 I installed the following updates: KB4338815, KB4054566, KB890830. These were standard updates applied by checking for updates with Windows Update.

Since these were applied, IISRESET no longer works. The "Attempting Stop..." phase takes a long time (seems to time out without a message), and "Attempting Start..." times out and gives this error:

The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion. (2147943453, 8007041d)

It looks like at least one other person on the planet is seeing this (see link below).

Any ideas?

Thanks,

-Brian Eriksen

I am also seeing this issue. We have KB4338815, KB4054566 installed and this only started happening within the last couple of weeks.

Brian, did you ever find a solution for it?

We are also experiencing this issue.

Update:  I simply rolled back the July Updates and iisreset is working again.
