Windows 10 - want to create a VM and install windows server 2012 R2

Current operating system is Windows 10 and I want to create a VM to install Windows Server 2012 R2, can I do and keep my windows 10 operating system on host?

Assuming you have Windows 10 Enterprise, Professional, or Education yes you can add the hyper-v role.
