Unable to update Windows 10 Insider Preview 17063.1000 (rs_prerelease)

Copper Contributor

Hello,

Currently, I'm using Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 17025.rs_prerelease.171020-1626

As windows launched update with a new version 17063.1000, I'm unable to update.

Each time system restarts and update runs for a while. Then, it rolls back to previous version of windows.

Error Code is - 0xc1900101.

Please help

I have an Asrock system board, running Build 17046.rs_prerelease 171118-1403 trying to upgrade to windows 10 insider preview 17063.1000. System sticks at ASROCK logo, will not load hardware. After two attempts, it reboots and reverts back to 17046. This has happened 8 times so far. I have over 350 gigs disk space open, no extra hardware/usb's connected, using Norton Security only (no other firewalls, etc). This has never happened on any other release.

I'll tried Your procedure and after restart the problem it's the same.

Any progress.

Thanks anyway

Hello,

I used the script also, but now the status in Windows update is: Your computer is up-to-date.....

Now I wait for the next update. I assume Microsoft will take out the flaws.

Happy new year.  ;)

Paul

Neither c:\windows\panther\settuperr.log nor setupact.log exists on my system. I tried disabling virtualization in the BIOS as suggested elsewhere but that had no effect.

Same problem here.  Hoping for a new release or clear instructions on how to debug and correct the problem.

Same problem here - tried few times and failed. attaching setup logs

I also now have the following folders (Samsung laptop, 850GB free)

c:\windows\panther

C:\WINDOWS\Panther\NewOs\Panther

same here. it downloads, then installs, reboots, then starts installing then just about 10 minutes in reboots and rolls back to previous installation and then finally reboots and I'm back to where I was and it does it over and over if I let it so I stopped auto updates and disabled insider upgrades for a week to see if I could find a solution. I have plenty of hardware for this, quad core i5, 32GB ram, 4gb video etc etc so it's not a hardware incompatibility.....driving me nuts. Plenty of disk space on my SSD (318GB available). nothing plugged in except bare minimum as always when I update, first time updates like this has failed (insider). All other have installed perfectly for a year or more.

Used this tool:

Microsoft Windows 10 [Version: 10.0.17025.1000]
Reset Windows Update Tool.

Today another try after having walk through all the options in the above mentioned programm.

No results. Rolling back to 17025.

Think has something to do with the storage.  But on the C disk is about 60 Gig free....

Could it be having the drives reassigned on the sata ports? Driveletters are still the same.

I have exactly the same issue - so far it has failed no fewer than 13 times; the same routine of upgrade, restart, fail, restore to old Windows settings.  Reluctant to download the additional software suggested in one link as it was not a bona fide Microsoft website.

yeah I turned off updates for one week to see if after that anything will change because a lot of people are having trouble with this specific update and I have illegal copy of the base install 64-bit but I'm running The Insider program and this particular one is the only one that has failed so I just paused updates for a little while in hopes that they'll either pull the update or fix it and read push it I guess we'll find out in a week if not sooner or maybe not at all who knows LOL I already have a backup and I don't keep anything major on a Insider preview so if I have to wipe my hard drive clean and reinstall fresh to fix it I'm prepared to do so and I'm about to do so and just leave The Insider program all together anyway if I have to because I'm sick of all these stuck updates and **bleep** changing all the time and being a guinea pig

To all insiders,

Today, trying for the 15th time, without success.

Disabled all external drives, disabled all strange USB drivers for android.

Unplugged all peripherals.

Can not understand why Microsoft does not has an official statement about this Insider Update.

Or why they don't  come with a patch or a better update... like other people state here, to be a guinea pig is becoming boring at the moment.

Takes to much time to update with try and error. (in fact only error)

Same problem on my machine - Dell Precision 7520 currently at 17046.rs_prerelease.171118-1403

 Windows 10 Insider Preview 17063.1000 (rs_prerelease) - Error 0x80004005

Attached are setuperr.log and setupact.log from C:\Windows\Panther\NewOs\Panther

agreed, last night I reinstalled a fresh copy of my 64bit Pro install that I bought retail online at a legit source and I opted out of all the windows Insider crap because they don't add enough new stuff for me to really give a crap about and I can't be down or have all these downloading update issues hanging my machine all the time Etc so I'm not going to be a guinea pig for Microsoft anymore it's non productive at this point and it's ridiculous that so many people have had this issue and they aren't even addressing it or acknowledge in that it even exist which is BS since we're technically beta testing their software so I'm out
Disabling virtu worked on my HP Envy ...

Here is my log message, please help me to explain what's happened and solution ? thanks.

Mine also does the "hang at firstboot"  error with only the windows logo showing.

Errlog shows 2018-01-05 07:06:53, Error [0x0606ae] IBS [SetupCl library] Required profile hive does not exist: [\??\D:\WINDOWS\system32\config\systemprofile\NTUSER.DAT].

or 0xc1900101  in windows.   Happens on my Surface Pro 4, and my laptop.   Tried both safe boot off, and disabling virtualisation / acpi as reccomended without success on EITHER system.

not a mega genius, but it seems that after the reboot, its trying to start from the wrong partition.... (that would explain the reference above to D as my system, and also the repeated customers saying that they have a disk error / no space error)

I have a similar problem with 1703 OS 15063.786 (1709 update fails). The update is loaded installs, boots a couple of times and rolls back. I'm running Windows defender ATP Win 10/E5 the error in the panther err log is: 2017-11-07 11:00:12, Error [0x0606ae] IBS [SetupCl library] Required profile hive does not exist: [\??\F:\WINDOWS\system32\config\systemprofile\NTUSER.DAT].

I too had this same problem upgrading to various Windows 10 Insider preview versions until I discovered this "little" trick.  I uninstalled my 3rd party anti virus security program (Norton 360 Security) and then ran my update.  I had to make sure I disabled Norton first BEFORE I downloaded the update.  If the update had been downloaded in the background before I turned off the Security software, then I had to manually delete all the files in the C:\windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download\  directory, uninstall the Norton software, and finally only then redownload and install the new Insider Preview files.  After the Prerelease version install, then reinstall your security protection software (Norton 360 Security in my case).

Hope this solves your problem,

Steven Haberkorn

did all that and didn't even have an antivirus installed just to rule it out, and knew about the distro folder delete but no change (but that's worked in the past in win 7 too for me) so I just reinstalled and stayed out of the I side program. I'm done with it. I need a stable machine without issues and this one is a pain in the butt so I'm not signing back up. thank you though :)

No this don't solve my problem. I know Norton for this reason i don't use. Norton create many problems in many version of Windows (7, 8, 10 ecc...),  then it's natural for me that You have problems generated from Norton Utility or antivirus.

Happy that You have solved.

My problems persist!

Best Regards and Very Thanks for Your informations
