Cannot disable touchpad

I customarily disable touchpads when a mouse is connected to laptops I use. Recently, this option has vanished in my Mouse/Touchpad settings. Is there a way to retrieve that option?

Hi,
you can disable your touchpad in the Device Manager.
right click on the start button and the go to Device Manager, find your touchpad and right-click then select disable.
make sure to enable it again before removing your mouse.

Thanks for the prompt response. Unfortunately, I already tried that without success. Disable is not offered as an option - see screenshot attached.
