Today we are pleased to announce that the Surface Connect to USB-C adapter is now available in commercial channels and through the Microsoft Store Business Desk in the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom. Add USB-C capability to Surface Laptop or the newest Surface Pro with this convenient adapter that supports USB-C docking solutions and USB-C power supplies. 1 Enable compatibility with open workspaces and universal docks to empower your users to work when and where they need with their Surface devices.

1 Display output and data throughput capabilities are dependent on the USB-C docking solution used. Requires external power source with a minimum power output of 27W and 12V.
Support for the Surface Connect to USB-C Adapter requires the installation of an update for the Surface System Aggregator Module prior to connecting the adapter to your Surface Pro or Surface Laptop device.

Surface Laptop:

The Surface System Aggregator Module update for Surface Laptop was previously made available on 15 May 2018 . If your Surface Laptop is up-to-date with Windows Update or you have installed the 15 May 2018 update from the Microsoft Download Center, your Surface Connect to USB-C Adapter will work with your device out-of-the-box and no further action is required. If your device does not yet have this required update, please run Windows Update to update your device or install the latest drivers for Surface Laptop from the Microsoft Download Center .

The specific driver required for Surface Laptop devices to support the Surface Connect to USB-C Adapter is:

Surface Pro (Model 1796):

The Surface System Aggregator Module update for Surface Pro (Model 1796) was previously made available on 29 June 2018. If you currently have one of the following .msi packages installed “SurfacePro_USB-C_WiFi_Win10_16299_1804507_3.msi” or “SurfacePro_USB-C_WiFi_Win10_16299_1805007_2.msi” or are in need of a .msi to support the Surface Connect for USB-C Adapter on your Surface Pro device, please download and install the following package from the Surface Pro drivers and firmware page of the Microsoft Download Center:

  • SurfacePro_Win10_16299_1805007_0.msi


The specific driver required for Surface Pro devices to support the Surface Connect to USB-C Adapter is:

  • Surface System Aggregator v234.2237.257.0


Surface Pro LTE Advanced (Model 1807):

The Surface System Aggregator Module update for Surface Pro (Model 1807) was previously made available on 11 July 2018. If you currently have one of the following .msi packages installed “SurfacePro_USB-C_LTE_Win10_16299_1805007_2.msi” or are in need of a .msi to support the Surface Connect for USB-C Adapter on your Surface Pro device, please download and install the following package from the Surface Pro drivers and firmware page of the Microsoft Download Center:
