Microsoft Teams and 3rd Party VMR

Brass Contributor
We may have a unique scenario but we have the requirement to joins our Hubs to 3rd Party virtual meeting room solutions. Where as we would dial a 9999999@vmr.vc address to join via Skype.

In the SfB experience we would just call that address from Skype and the name would resolve to Contoso Virtual Meeting Room 1 but when the Hub is enabled in Teams mode the application does not resolve the Skype address.

Can we manually open Skype from the hub as appose to Teams? (Haven’t tried just thought of it)

Or can we embed this within an invite to the hub so it auto calls the 3rd Party Solution as appose to joining the inviters call.

Hello @John Guy ,

I believe the service only supports SIP so Teams will not work.

However, you have the following options to configure the Surface Hub to use Skype and Teams

Number Description
0 Skype preferred app on the Start Screen, Teams Meetings available
1 Teams preferred app on the Start Screen, Skype Meetings available
2 Teams exclusive app on the Start screen (Skype app not available)

Please check this article: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoftteams/teams-surface-hub

Best regards,
