4.0.8.0 update started pushing out to some SRS v2 devices via the Store on Friday, July 6th.  We expect that the update will be made available to all SRS v2 devices in the coming week.

4.0.8.0 enables both Skype for Business *and* Teams meetings support on Rooms Systems devices.  Teams is turned off by default once the update is applied.  Admins can enable Teams locally in device settings or via a remote xml push.

@David Groom is there way to update this manually? or have to wait for the Store to push to our devices?

Brass Contributor

@Joe Zhu

you can all ways download SRS app as an offline app from MSfB

https://businessstore.microsoft.com/en-us/store/details/skype-room-system/9NBLGGH5799L

Copper Contributor

@Per Larsen Thanks. However, I don't think you can download the latest app from MSfB. I just tried, it's old version.

Copper Contributor

@David Groom Is there a place to go to always see the latest version released along with the changes/bug fixes? At this point, I just have an alert for every time that you post something :)

Copper Contributor

@David GroomWill this update support modern auth?

Hi David,

is there any official page with new account requirements to allow existent SRS to start to work with Teams also?

I've setup our Test SRS to use SfB as primary and default client and also Teams, but I receive an error that systems could not access Teams at SRS start, even if SRS account is licensed with an E3 license.

Thank you

Best Regards

Luca

@Luca VitaliI noticed this too but it seems to eventually login as expected. My SRS system is using an E5 though. And I don't think I need to say it but make sure Teams is enabled in the License for the room.

We licence our Logitech SRS with the Common Area Phone SKU (after recommendation from Microsoft)

This bundle includes "Phone System" and "SfB Online Plan 2".

Presumably, this bundle will add in the equivalent teams feature?

Giving these devices an E3 is not cost-effective and is also non-compliant (as they are user-based not device-based)

Any word on when this is releasing to all units? The one machine with this new update is weirdly stable so I'd like to try it out on some other units but they refuse to download the new version.

Copper Contributor

@Deleted I was wondering where and how to download the new version?

all my units are on old version

@Joe Zhu

Just make sure automatic updates are enabled on the Microsoft Store app and hope for the best. As far as I'm aware the deployment kit has not been updated so there's no way to force them up to this new version.

Microsoft

@Deleted We'll be increasing the 4.0.8.0 availability to 50% in the next day or so.  I expect that we'll be at 100% availability by the end of next week.

4.0.x.0.msi is not yet available.

Iron Contributor

Hi @David Groom,

just a reminder that we use SCCM to deploy SRS application to our 270+ SRS units. So we look forward to msi version :)

Microsoft

@Pavel Aivazov - we're working on it!  I'll give you an update on where we're at next week.

Brass Contributor

I saw earlier today that Teams now comes in a free version for groups up to 300 people. Can we apply this licence to the SRS account (doesn't show up in the o365 admin portal yet)?

I'm hoping that will be an alternative to the Common Are Phone licence that we are currently using for them

Iron Contributor

@Luca Vitali we have this message after a reboot too, but looks like this is a login timing problem. After a few seconds this message is gone and everything works as expected.

Copper Contributor

@David Groom Looks like dual screen is not working under this release (4.0.8.0).

Microsoft

@Joe Zhu 4.0.8.0 supports dual screen in SfB mode and single screen in Teams mode.  We will be enabling Teams mode dual screen in an upcoming update.

Microsoft

JFYI... We are now at 100% throttling (update available to all devices).

@David GroomAre there any limitations on receiving these updates on Lenovo units? All of the Logitech units set to automatic updates have received 4.0.8.0 but we have 2 Lenovo units, one is on 3.1.95.0 and the other is 3.1.115.0 and both have automatic Store updates enabled.

Copper Contributor

@David Groom Is there a posted Release Notes page for this version (or others)?

Hi @David Groom!

Noticed that on-screen keyboard doesn't work in SRS app when I receive Teams call, but it works when I have Skype call. Is it a known bug? Just in case - I have 4.0.8 on Lenovo Hub 500, didn't test on Surface yet.

Microsoft

@Pavel Aivazov - Yes, known 4.0.8.0 regression on non-Surface Pro based systems.  We're working on a fix.

Brass Contributor

@rodelmurex  You mentioned that a few of your devices were disconnecting themselves from Skype with the message "Reconnecting..." Did you ever find a fix? Ours are still doing it even with the latest app version.

Copper Contributor

@David Groom Is there a know bugs page?  We have it up and running but content sharing doesn't seem to work correctly in peer-to-peer calls (it constantly disconnects) but works fine in conferences.

Copper Contributor

Do you have further information on the new "Bluetooth Beaconing" that enables Microsoft Teams beaconing capabilities? Couldn't find info on this.

Thanks,
Jesse

Hi Jesse,

it's a feature ready on the SRS but in roadmap on Teams clients.
Basically when a Teams app on a PC or mobile device is close to an available SRS, the proximity sensor in the Teams app detects the SRS in the meeting room, and can add that SRS to the meeting as a participant. The PC or mobile app will automatically go into content-only mode allowing the room to provide audio & video into the meeting without echo and feedback generated by the other clients in the room.
That's what I know from MS, I'm looking forward to test it in real life!
Regards

Luca

Copper Contributor

@Luca Vitali Thanks Luca.

I'm assuming since this is just bluetooth, this is not going to be a native wireless content sharing solution.

Sounds like PC/mobile app will still need to share desktop through the Teams app.

Jesse

Hi Jesse,

glad to help you.
The beacon on the SRS is used only to tell to the PC/Smartphone "hey, I'm here!"
Media flow, even content sharing, are not changed by this new feature.

Luca

Hello ! We currently testing SRS in our company ! Can we add official Microsoft Whiteboard UWP application to SRS ? We have 55 inch to 86 inch touchscreen and we need to keep the whiteboard capability ! Thanks for help ;)

With the update 4.0.8.0 with Teams as default, on Lenovo ThinkSmart Hub 500, I am having issues with the on screen keyboard not popping up when choosing New Meeting. Works with Skype as default but not when Teams is the default.

Anyone else having this issue?  Any fix?

Thanks

@James McGuireHi James, we're having the same issues with the Lenovo hubs. As far as I'm aware this is just a common issue with all of the Lenovo hubs.

If you run with Skype as the default there are still Teams bugs. One we observed is the Teams app will cover the normal app and just have text saying "App is running" sometimes when the unit boots.

I'd recommend running with Teams disabled, we wanted to have it enabled in a room as a test but it didn't even manage to remain stable enough while we were setting the room up!

Microsoft

@Deleted, @James McGuire - we are investigating a fix for the keyboard issue that you describe when in Teams mode.  I'll keep you updated on latest status.  In the meantime, you can add participants via laptop (understand that this is not as good an experience as a final fix).

Copper Contributor

I'm still experiencing Skype Room Systems disconnecting from Skype while idle, with the status popup "Reconnecting..." on app version 4.0.8.0. It stays disconnected until you reboot the device. It's disrupting a lot of meetings and damaging trust in the devices in general.

Looking at the snooper log on the Skype Room System, at disconnect time I can see the SIP "register" message from the SRS is simply missing the "proxy-authentication" section. Then the SRS keeps sending these bad register requests indefinitely, and it can never sign back in. Any ideas?

Brass Contributor

@David Groom What licencing do we specifically need to enable Teams on an SRS?  We had all of our Logitech SRS configured with "Phone System" and "SfB Online Plan 2".  But we had to assign an E3 to get Teams working the ones that we have tested so far.  An E3 isn't a cost-effective approach and as pointed out earlier by @thommck-on-twitter, I don't think that it's technically compliant since an E3 is user-based not device-based.

Copper Contributor
The 4.0.8.0 update failed last night on our Logitech SRS. Now it boots into the skype user and just sits there with a blank blue window with Skype for Business on the external display. I've attempted a repair using the recovery tool which made no difference. Now I'm on to doing a system reset. I must say that overall I'm extremely disappointed with the reliability of these SRS systems. Most mornings the unit is either hung rebooting or at the "oops something went wrong" screen. The only way that I've found to make them even remotely usable is to make sure all updates are disabled. This is a brand new SRS running the latest surface pro as well. I haven't even deployed this system because of the issues I've ran into and the limitation with joining teams meetings, which hopefully will work...once the system reset is finished.
Microsoft

@Ron Scheuman - Perhaps the information general info available here, individual account here, and tenant-wide here will help answer your question.

Microsoft

@Corey Riley - which Room Systems device are you using?  Have you been able to open a support ticket?

Brass Contributor

@David Groom - Thanks for the note but I'm still not seeing any specific information regarding the required licensing for a Teams enabled SRS device.

Microsoft

@Ron Scheuman Confirmed that you should be using the full E3 license.  We're taking your feedback internally so stay tuned for licensing updates.

Copper Contributor

Required licensing is very convoluted... Better info from 3rd parties than Microsoft. Hopefully Microsoft has a better roadmap and transition plan moving forward. It seems like they're just playing wait-and-see to how Enterprises will react to removing 3rd party integration into Skype and Skype room systems moving forward.

Copper Contributor

@David Groom - Do you have an update for the msi release? Thanks

Copper Contributor

@David Groom We’re using the Logitech SmartDock.  I wound up just doing a system reset.  It hasn’t updated yet.  I’ll post here when it does to let you know if it was successful.

Brass Contributor

@Corey Riley - We are experiencing the same issues with one of our two Logitech SmartDocks.  The latest issue is that the Ethernet adapter refuses to accept an IP via DHCP or via manual entry.  The only option we have before we attempt another repair, is to use the wireless adapter.

We have performed at least two system resets on this device and it's only been in operations for 3 months.

Copper Contributor

@David Groom so when's the next update that fixes the above known issues?

Copper Contributor

@David GroomWe really need a better licensing solution from Microsoft in order to enable Teams on SRS devices than assigning an E3 (user based) license.

I currently license all my room systems with:

  • Common Area Phone
  • Domestic Call Plan
  • Communications Credits

The above combination of licensing prevents the SRS from participating in Teams meetings.

Its frustrating that after following official Microsoft license guidance that the new Teams features are unavailable.

Hey Guys,

is there any way to change the labels of the buttons in Teams meetings? In German translation, the text is bigger than the button for "invite people" / "teilnehmer einladen".

And is there any option to change the date / time in German to 24h format instead of 12h ?

Only an optical thing, but would be nice to correct it.
