Skype Room Systems v2 Build 3.0.10.0 has been available from the Microsoft Store since early this week.  Build 3.0.10.0 resolves an issue observed where the SRS v2 soft keyboard may fail to appear after receiving the Windows 10 RS2 update.

For companies building their own SRS v2 images, we'll post a 3.0.10.0 standalone MSI shortly.  The standalone MSI will be linked for download from the "Prepare the installation image" article on Technet here.

Hello David!

I appreciate your prompt reply in your previous post, however I'd like to clarify the problem we face. We want to deploy a few hundreds Skype Room Systems and we want to manage all updates they receive centrally (via SCCM), so we want to deploy new versions of SRS application via SCCM rather than get them from Windows Store. The msi in that Technet article is actually a wrapper for the set of scripts to prepare the installation image. That MSI does many things - it installs SRS application, configures Skype local account, sets up UI restrictions for Skype account, etc. That's great but we also need a "classic" MSI package - the one which installs new version of SRS application on Skype Room System which was configured previously. So the business case is:

1. We have Skype Room System which is already configured and runs SRS application (for instance) 3.0.6.0

2. Windows Store updates are disabled (because this is an enterprise environment and we want to test all updates prior to roll them out, most likely we will skip some minor updates)

3. Question: How to deploy new 3.0.10. SRS application to that Skype Room System? We want to deploy that via SCCM, but there is no "classic" MSI package for SRS application.

@Pavel Aivazovit's a store app, you would deploy via SCCM like any store app using offline licnesing, see below for a good step-by-step.

https://blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/teju_shyamsundar/2016/05/30/deploy-an-application-from-windows-stor...

If you've disabled updates in the store, then you can repackage and redistribute when you wan to update.

Brass Contributor

Hi David ... the link on the page is still going to 3.0.6.0 do you have an updated link please ?

Iron Contributor

Hi Steve,

That MSI does many things - it installs SRS application, configures Skype local account, sets up UI restrictions for Skype account, etc. That's great but we also need a "classic" MSI package - the one which installs new version of SRS application on Skype Room System which was configured previously

@Pavel AivazovI've not refered to the MSI at all. The link I provided shows you how to take a store app like SRSv2 out of the store and deploy it directly using SCCM.

Anyone had experiment issue with HDMI input messing up the second shared screen or are we the only customer to face this issue with any version tested ? HDMI input is using Barco ClickShare or PC input.SRS.PNG

Copper Contributor

@christophe limet - We are also seeing the screen share issue

Brass Contributor

It seems to be an issue with HDMI ingest if we look at the log file

@Hany Elkady We are working to post Build 3.0.10.0 to Technet shortly.  I expect that it will be available this week.

Microsoft

@christophe limet @Kienan Leung We triaged the sharing issue this morning - it looks similar to another issue that we've been investigating and identified a potential fix.  I'll update this thread once we know more about hotfix timing.

Microsoft

@Hany Elkady Build 3.0.10.0 is now available for download on Technet here.

Brass Contributor

Hello @David Groom thanks for the update. Do you need more information ?

Brass Contributor

Hi,

@David Groom do you have any info about new MS Surface Pro 2017 compatibility with the SRS v2 Build 3.0.10.0 solution? Surface Pro 4 is basically sold out from the market.

Latest Technet from 08/08/2017 is still mentioning about Surface Pro 4. We are going to purchase some amount of SRS v2, but currently it is impossible due to lack of devices (Surface Pro 4) on the market .

There is also one more question, assuming that there will be software compatibility related to new Surface Pro ‘17, what about backward compatibility with the “old” docks available on the market (i.e. Logitech Smart Dock), as far as I know (from the internet reviews) the new Surface Pro is, a bit thicker (8.5mm) than version 4 (8.4mm), and what about other dimensions?

Brass Contributor

Hi @Slawomir Garbarz, Logitech confirmed me that new SRS Pro with fanless should be compatible with the SmartDock SRS2.

Didnt tried yet but i guess it should do a better job.

What about the new OS 1703 creator edition, is it compatible with the SRS2 application ?

Iron Contributor

I will get Surface Pro 5 in 2 weeks, and will check its compatibility

Iron Contributor

Anyone has an idea where I can find the version of the SRS v2 ?

Ah got it..See it in the settings options.

Iron Contributor

Also I cannot seem to find the SRSv2 app in the store?  As it been remove?

Iron Contributor

Thanks @christophe limet  :)

Brass Contributor

@David GroomDo you have also any information about the Logitech firmware update for the SRS i can see on one of my SRS:

SmartDock Firmware Update 1.0.40.0

What's inside ?

Alsor for the Surface 4 we noticed 1 unit is really using the Fan extensively when using the Skype App. Did we miss any firmware update during the creation of the image with the latest build 3.10 ? I used drivers listed below from package SurfacePro4_Win10_1700501_0

Any updates on the dual screen sharing issue?

Brass Contributor

Hi @Chris Burrow do you have your shared screen messed up randomly ?

Brass Contributor

Hi all,

I relation to my last week question @David Groom and limited time for internal deployment preparation, I tried to answer for my last week question by myself.

The new Surface Pro (2017) fits quite well to the old Logitech Smart Dock frame, so I can confirm (of course unofficially) the physical compatibility. Thank you @Pavel Aivazov for your response in this filed.

Below some photos from my today compatibility tests:

20170822_110026.jpg

I was worried much more about the software compatibility which seems to be ok as well (unofficially of course).

Morover I have just finished testing of my lab image installation of SRS v2 Build 3.0.10.0 on Surface Pro 5 (2017 version) without any issues including:

- up to 5 participant audio video conferences

- dual monitor mode test

- power point presentation controlled form SRS v2 (dual and single monitor)

- HDMI input presentation sharing (dual and single monitor)

- themes changing

Few words about my test configruation preperation:

My image consists just Windows Ent 10 (buil 1607) and latest SRSDeploymetnKit-3.0.10.0.msi binaries.

I didn't copy Surface Pro 4 drivers on USB, how it was recommended by MS in actual technet manual, to avoid any incompatibility issues.

Due to lack off zipped version of drivers for Surface Pro 5 I tried to install latest msi version, but as I was expected without success.

20170822_104243.jpg20170822_104308.jpg

As you can see drivers were not installed.

20170822_104215.jpg

But after plugging into network and finishing the rest of configuration (needed CA certificates installation, creating  skype room account etc.)

After SRS reset I have spotted that all drivers were installed.

20170822_151003.jpg20170822_151021.jpg

Fortunately the Surface Pro 4 refresh wasn't so deep and I hope that in next few days MS, officially will prepare technet manual for new version of Surface Pro.

Copper Contributor

@christophe limet So far in all our testing we have seen results similiar to the image you posted above when sharing content from the HDMI input while in dual screen mode. HDMI input is directly from a PC.

Microsoft

@Slawomir Garbarz Thank you - please stay in touch with Logitech on supported Surface Pro hardware for their SmartDock.

Brass Contributor

@Slawomir GarbarzThanks for the detailled comments about the integration of the new Surface Pro with the current dock.

So if my understanding is correct you need a newer version of the drivers to be deployed on the image ?

Did you also notice for your remote attendees a secondary view for the screen shared which was not displayed corectly ?

Brass Contributor

@christophe limet

1. Yes there is no zip package on MS driver site,  but as you can see from screen after few system restarts drivers are up to date.

2. I didn't noticed any issues related to second display, one display showing just HDMI input signal or Power Point presentation second only participants view, one annoying thing is that the left bottom corner room preview is so tiny and basically useless, I hope that MS give some possibility to change layout in the future updates.

Brass Contributor

Yes maybe this tiny windows would be replaced with a full screen video on the right screen with the new layout.

The issue is not local, rather for your remote participant, he will see a shared screen split and zoomed in. This is our main concern for now.

Brass Contributor

Hi @christophe limet  @Chris Burrow @Kienan Leung

I have done some tests today again and I have noticed that when you doing SRSv2 restart with plugged in HDMI source the displayed screen can be cut on external attendee Skype session despite you see the good size on your presenting room screen.

Please try to restart SRS with unplugged HDMI source and plug the HDMI source presentation when your system will be ready, please tell me if that works. In my configuration Surface Pro 5 and Logitech in works ok.

Iron Contributor

@David Groom @christophe limet @Kienan Leung i can confirm that we also have the dual screen issue where the facilitator in the room with the SRS cannot use the cable connected to the SRS to share their laptop screen to the 2nd SRS monitor!  We replaced the cable that was included with our Logitech SRS dock (HDMI on one end and Display port on the other) with a cable that was HDMI on both ends, but it did not help.  The 2nd monitor seemed to try to come alive, but the laptop image would not come up on the 2nd SRS monitor.  Anyone know when a fix will be pushed so we can let it update itself, we are not really skilled enough to do a re-install manually.

Brass Contributor

Hello @aboozer did you check if it was not an issue with a screen deactivated in your display settings in admin mode?

To check it:

Go to admin mode

Type in serach box: display settings

Check your second monitor is activated and not deactivated

Activate it and check if the extend display is activated

Restart

In the SRS interface, check the dual screen mode is activated

Brass Contributor

@Slawomir GarbarzThanks for your help ans tips and indeed with my colleague @Maxime NOË we found that changing a peripheral audio makes the system restart a routine and fix the screen issue, but if you reboot, the issue is coming back.  This can be fixed as you found it out with also a physical switch on off.  If we could add a routine to reset theses audio devices with a PS script at the startup this would save us!

Iron Contributor

@christophe limetchecked settings in admin mode as you suggested but that was not the issue.  Thanks for the advice though! Both screens are active, when we touch the present icon on the SRS, the 2nd screen displays "Plug in the HDMI cable to present" but when we connect a laptop it does not work.  Seems we've tried everything.  Our (terrible) workaround is we tell people to join the meeting and present their laptop via screen share in the Skype meeting :(

Iron Contributor

Our presentation screen is working again.  I wish we could give you a definitive answer, but it was either an OS update on the Surface console that fixed it or the faulty HDMI to Display Port cable or both.  We have SRS v 3.0.10.0 installed now and we replaced the cable and are back in business.

@christophe limetcurrently we have no problem with our display settings the most important thing is to switch on to standby mode on your  display devices  setting if it is possible. SRS have to "see" the signal inputs during every system reload to set up display correctly. I have set up the reboot scheduler once every day and it still works fine.

@aboozer JFYI... We released 3.0.12.0 update late last week which amongst other things includes a fix for screen cropping issues.  Please refer to the 3.0.12.0 update article just posted in this blog for more information.

Hello @David Groom do you plan in the current roadmap to be able to duplicate the screen on both screens when sharing locally ?

We use one of our SRS2 with Barco ClickShare and would love the idea to duplicate the screen basically or in an ideal world be able to switch the screens during a meeting, play with the disposal of the windows....

Also another remark, avatars are not displayed if the people are not using their cameras...is it something which could be improved ?

Dummy question:

How to check current SRS version?

OS is on level 1703, but no idea of the SRS.

I'm asking partly because somewhere else were proposed to run applycurrentregionalandlanguage.ps1 to change the UI language for the Skype client. But I cannot find the .ps1 file...

@Petri X

I have the file on an older unit that has been upgraded. Seems that it has kept old files instead of deleting them.

Send me an message and we decide on a good way to send the file.
