Hello,

can we already update to Windows 10 1809? My colleague released it in Wsus. It install fine, but we have some App resize issues with an external LG TV since then.

For the Lenovo Hub fan issue I can say there is an update on the Lenovo website, which fixes some fan issues.

Thanks

Bye,

Andreas

Microsoft

@Nick DiFeo In latest build a check is done at signin for both OS and Store app updates.  Are you seeing update issues?

Microsoft

@ASchott82 - we haven't yet signed off on 1809.  We continue to work on validating 1809.

Microsoft

@rodelmurex - another method for gathering logs is going into Settings and turning on the Get Feedback feature.  Logs will be sent to the designated admin's email when the user sends feedback.

Brass Contributor

@David Groomthat should be fine, thanks for confirming

Copper Contributor

@Ilya Bukshteyn You mentioned the front of room text issue being resolved in the upcoming app release - is this still on target to be completed by end of this month?

Microsoft

@ytoyama Yes.

Is there an estimation, when the functionality "Bring Your Own Meeting" which enables Teams mobile clients to listen for a Bluetooth beaconing signal from the SRS device.  Will  be included  (available) in Teams client ?

I try it today with Teams client 1.2.00.1758 which looks like the latest available build and SRS 4.0.64 and it is not working yet together.

Microsoft

Hello, @Jan_S.  Guidance received a few weeks ago was that this experience will be enabled by the end of first quarter calendar year 2019.

Microsoft

@Jan_S we've been looking at usage of proximity based join in our DF / beta / TAP rings and are making some UX tweaks as a result of feedback.  That said, our target is still to get the experience out to Ring 4 / GA next month, on both mobile and desktop.

Hi,

very new to this Forum and have a question.

It seems that the latest ver of Win10 1809 -Build 10.0.17763.292 does not support the SRSDeploymentKit-4.0.64.1.msi.

We had an issue and tried to reset with the \RecoveryTool.ps1 but it said that the build was not supported.

Is there a later version or can we fool the script someway?

Copper Contributor

@Mikegnzversion I get it working is Win 10  1803 10.0.17134.1 April update which is originally supported. But I didn't play with script.

There is also one update https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4340917/windows-10-update-kb4340917 package which is injected into image by script, means finally your OS on SRS get version 1803  10.17134.191 update from July 24.

When doing a local presentation with dual screens, it currently mirrors the content.  I see the use case for that, but when both displays are at the front of the room, it creates a bit of a headache.  I've found the setting to hide duplication, however, it resets obviously the next time a device is plugged in.  Is there any way for us to set what is the default?

Microsoft

@Dustin Halvorson mirroring local content on dual screen systems was actually a customer ask. There will be a setting coming in a future release of the app to disable this per room. @Sohail Tariq fyi for when we add this to a specific release please let Dustin know.

Steel Contributor

@Ilya Bukshteyn   @Sohail Tariq   Very interesting.  I get the use case though if the screens are facing different directions in a room (we might have that in the future), would just be nice to go either/or.  I'll keep my eye open.

Copper Contributor

@Dustin Halvorson @Ilya Bukshteyn Content on dual screen has been a contentious issue for our users for years across our Polycom Group Series environment. We get requests to enable it or disable it in equal measure and comes down to personal preference. This is one of the reasons I prefer one larger display over two smaller ones for room VC setups.

Brass Contributor

theres a new update right.

Brass Contributor

i dont see any post regarding SRSv2 4.0.76.0 version?

Does anyone know if there is a SRSv2 Kit to support Windows version 10.0.17763.107 because our supplier can no longer get us 10.0.17134.1.

The other option is to source 10.0.17134.1 but this don't appear to be available anymore.

I have 9 Surface Pro 6's to get out the door and no software is there a way out of this loop

Thanks

Steel Contributor

@Lyndon Gervers I'm pretty sure the SRS app isnt approved for 1809 yet.

Microsoft

@Dustin Halvorson  @Lyndon Gervers correct, we are still working through some issues on Windows 10 RS5 / 1809 / 17763.  Please use RS4 / 17134.  We will update this blog when we have RS5 all squared away.

Copper Contributor

@Lyndon Gervers

I had the same issue with not being able to find the 10.0.17134.1 media. Just change line 242 in the "CreateSRSMedia.ps1" script to "return $true".  That allows the script to continue.

Copper Contributor

David,

Is there a way to disable the content share for dual display.  It is disrupting my environment.  The custom integration we have done with the Crestron Second Page is conflicting with this feature.  We are going to have to roll our SRS’s back to 4.0.51

Microsoft

@J. R. Haas what specifically do you want to disable?  Content displayed on both screens when not in meetings? Or?

Copper Contributor

We would like to be able to disable content duplication when not in a call.

at .64 and .78 when I plug in my laptop to ingest it automatically duplicates to both screens.  I would like to be able to disable this in the features tab in settings.

Copper Contributor

Hi

There was estimation for availability of  "Bring Your Own Meeting" which enables Teams clients to listen for a Bluetooth beaconing signal from the SRS device for end of first quarter. I tested it Today with SRS 4.0.78 and Teams client 1.2.00.8864 and it is not working for me.

Was this functionality released yet or what is the time plan ?

Rgds

Jan

Steel Contributor

@J. R. Haas  when sharing content, press the settings button and hide duplicate.  Unfortunately the current experience has this reset every time you plug in, and there is no way (at least in the current version) to set the default as the opposite experience (hide duplicate)

Steel Contributor

@Jan_S i believe the functionality hasnt been released yet into the teams client.

Microsoft

@Jan_S the Teams client part of proximity join is still pending getting to Ring 4 / GA. Should be any day now.

I thought we had a setting in admin settings to disable content duplicate.  @Sohail Tariq if we don't have this we should add a backlog item.

Copper Contributor

Thanks @Ilya Bukshteyn and Sohail.  I am particularly interested in the date when that will be delivered.  We will not be able to update past 4.0.51 until then.

Microsoft

@J. R. Haas - We have this feature in backlog to add a setting. I can't provide timeline yet but its more likely to be in H2 2019. I am curious to hear more about your use case and why it is deal-breaker for you.
CC: @Greg Baribault

Steel Contributor

@Sohail Tariq  The problem is when two screens are at the front of the room, side by side.  The current functionality makes a ton of sense if the monitors aren't side by side (potentially facing different directions, or opposite sides of the room).  When duplicating content with two front of room displays, its just hard on the eyes (especially when its a very colorful excel spreadsheet and you are scrolling up and down!)

Microsoft

@Dustin Halvorson we added that feature specifically for that scenario specifically based on customer demand :)  But we hear you and will add a setting to turn it off.

Steel Contributor

@Ilya Bukshteyn  lol, and I absolutely get it!  I think we'll have a room or two like that in the coming months as well.  Unfortunately there are just different setups, and sometimes we are restricted based on what the room can handle.  Our users have been instructed to press the button manually to hide the duplicate, however, in rooms that get external guests it's hard to ensure they are aware of the feature as well.

The button to show/hide makes sense.  The only thing missing is at the admin level to set what the default is!  Otherwise great addition!

Copper Contributor

The reason this feature is not desirable in some of our rooms is because we are managing multiple inputs through a video switch controlled by Crestron's second page app.  This feature adds confusion since it does not track in the second page UI.

Copper Contributor

The dual screen content is always a contentious one and is down to personal preference. Some people like it, some people don't. I have even had people request single screen content whilst in a call but dual screen content out of a call.

I guess the option to configure whatever you want as a default would be ideal.

Copper Contributor

I have a question:

Why is the "Reset Device" button available to anyone as this resets the rooms setting and credentials. I would have expected this to be a little harder to find and reset.

Microsoft

@Mikegnz the Restart Device button on the console home screen just triggers a reboot, to correct issues as a last resort, and should not reset any settings. The Reset Device button is under Settings which requires Admin access to the device, so not for "anyone". That button does indeed reset the device.

Copper Contributor

@Ilya Bukshteyn

Ok now I have another question, i don't seem to need to use Admin access to get to the screen where you can reset Device and or change settings. How can we change this?

Microsoft

@Mikegnz Going into Settings should bring up a Windows security screen which should prompt for an account with Admin rights to that device.

Copper Contributor

@Ilya Bukshteyn I go into settings, no prompt, then to Windows Settings and then there is a "Go to Admin Sign-in" button. Have we somehow a different security settings? SFB-Settings-Screen.png

Microsoft

@Mikegnz - Please configure your device to only add IT admins to the Administrative group in the device. You can access this through Windows Settings when you sign in as Admin to the device.

Microsoft

@Mikegnz something is screwed up with the account settings on your device. Most likely the account you're running the app in is somehow a local admin instead of a least privileged user. Our default Skype account is least privileged user. When anyone hits Settings we do a normal Windows admin escalation check, which should pop a Windows security prompt. I just tried it on the room system behind me and that's exactly what happened.

So check to make sure the account that is running our app (by default the SKype account) didn't accidentally get changed to Admin vs. User.

Copper Contributor

Checked "Skype" user is a Local only account and it is only a member of the User Group. Defiantly not in the Administrators group.

Any other thoughts or idea's

Steel Contributor

@Mikegnz  are these getting group policy?  Are you changing the UAC settings, perhaps disabling it all together?

Microsoft

@Mikegnz also see the post from @Sohail Tariq above:

@Mikegnz - Please configure your device to only add IT admins to the Administrative group in the device. You can access this through Windows Settings when you sign in as Admin to the device.

Copper Contributor

Dustin Halvorson

UAC is set to Never Notify.

Skype User is defiantly not in Administrator group.

Steel Contributor

@Mikegnz go change that UAC setting back to something that is more secure, preferably near the top!
