In SharePoint 2010 search had some functionality that allowed to define a list of words (then called noise words) that should not be added to the index. I can't find any documents stating that this functionality is still supported in SharePoint 2016 or that has been replaced by some similar functionality.
Can please someone help pointing me to some article / document that addresses this subject?
Thanks in advance

My understanding is that this is part of the search engine/language pack in the current generation of SharePoint Search. If you have your own list of words you need to filter you could use a query rule if there are not too many.

Thank you for your answer Bill, I did like the noise word approach for its configuration simplicity and for keeping trash out of the indexes but the solution you propose would allow me to get the same kind of functionality.
Thank you again
