SharePoint Online & Office 365 Backup & Restore Settings.

Our SharePoint needs to connect to various other system so we need a release process.

Our Environments are as follows;

Dev

UAT
Pre Prod
Test Prod

Prod

We have a a SharePoint tenancy for each of the 5 environments. Currently only Prod tenancy has live site configuration and data. We need to do a complete data and config copy from Prod to both UAT and Pre Prod. Then regularly refresh them.

What is the best way to do this? Prod contains 100 Site Collections, 30,000 Sites (2.6Tb of data)

@Andy Dale  If you want to replicate content from one Site to another, the best way is to use a migration tool. Tools like Sharegate has the option to use powershell to migrate.  You can automate your process using the migration tool.  This may not be the best way to do it but is the only way currently.

@Maruthi Gadde yes Microsoft have now confirmed it's a limitation of SharePoint Online. Tools like ShareGate and Metalogix are the only option. Both are painfully slow though. Metalogix takes us 20 minutes per site. We have 1200 sites to do.

Have a look at AvePoint - their Deployment Manager and Replicator components, part of AvePoint Cloud Management, will fit the bill.

@Rob Ellis have asked AvePoint for further info. Last time we check their backup only restored to original location. We need to continually copy config and content between the development environments. Copy 1200 sites from Live to UAT and then refresh weekly.
