Modern Site Contents New Tab/Windows

Is this "normal" behavior in the new Modern Site Contents to launch new browser tabs/windows each time you click on a list/library? Before I know it after toggling to few times, I suddenly have several Site Contents windows open plus other lists/libraries. HIGHLY annoying.

Yeah its not great as I find my 8gb laptop runs out of memory pretty quickly

Poor choice of words ... normal vs intentional UI design ... which actually is very poor and causing much confusion with our end users in training. They are becoming lost with so many open sessions.
